New Delhi: GAIL (India) Limited has announced that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has extended the additional charge of Director (Projects) held by CMD Deepak Gupta for another six months starting June 1, 2026.
The company shared this update through a regulatory filing submitted to the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE Limited on May 27, 2026.
Ministry Approval for Extension
According to the filing, the extension was approved by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG) through its letter dated May 27, 2026.
The additional charge will continue:
- For six months from June 1, 2026
- Until a regular Director (Projects) is appointed
- Or until further orders, whichever is earlier

Ensuring Leadership Continuity
The extension is aimed at ensuring smooth leadership continuity in GAIL’s project division while the government completes the process of appointing a permanent Director (Projects).
As Chairman and Managing Director, Deepak Gupta is also overseeing the company’s strategic operations, infrastructure expansion, and major energy projects.
Regulatory Compliance
GAIL confirmed that the disclosure has been made in accordance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
