NHRC Steps In After Chhattisgarh Sakti Power Plant Blast Kills 13 Workers, Seeks Urgent Report from Top Officials

Raipur: The NHRC Chhattisgarh boiler blast case has drawn national attention after the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) took suo motu cognizance of a deadly industrial accident. 

The incident, which occurred in a thermal power plant in Chhattisgarh’s Sakti district, reportedly led to the death of 13 workers and injuries to 20 others. 

Acting on official reports, the NHRC has issued notices to top state authorities and demanded a detailed report within two weeks, focusing on accountability, compensation, and the health status of the injured workers.

According to the official statement shared by NHRC India, the commission has taken suo motu cognizance of the tragic incident.

NHRC has sent notices to:

  • Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh
  • Director General of Police (DGP)
