“Sports Build Character and Discipline”

Highlighting the importance of sports in personal development, the Chief Minister stated that sports are not just about competition but also about building essential life skills.

“Through sports, values such as discipline, patience, teamwork, and dedication are nurtured, inspiring youth to excel in all aspects of life,” Dhami said.

He encouraged young athletes to represent not only their states but also the future of India with dedication and commitment.

Table Tennis: A Game of Skill and Strategy

Dhami emphasized that table tennis is a demanding sport requiring speed, balance, precision, and mental strength. He noted that the game helps players develop quick decision-making abilities, strategic thinking, and confidence in handling challenges.

Boost to Sports Culture Under PM Modi

The Chief Minister credited the rise in India’s sports culture to initiatives led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Programs like the Khelo India and Fit India Movement have played a crucial role in promoting sports nationwide.

He also praised the performance of Indian athletes in international events such as the Olympics, Paralympics, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games, attributing their success to improved infrastructure and government support.

Uttarakhand Emerging as a Sports Hub

Dhami reiterated the state government’s commitment to strengthening sports infrastructure and nurturing talent. Referring to the success of the 38th National Games, he said Uttarakhand is rapidly emerging not just as “Devbhoomi” but also as a sports hub.

He highlighted that local athletes delivered an outstanding performance by winning 103 medals, setting a new benchmark for the state.

Focus on Sportsmanship Over Winning

Concluding his address, the Chief Minister emphasized the true essence of sports:

“Winning or losing is not as important as the spirit, discipline, and self-confidence of players, which ultimately make them true champions.”
