Gujarat: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Tuesday inaugurated the centenary celebrations of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in Ahmedabad. The event marked 100 years of one of India’s oldest and most influential industry bodies.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that FICCI’s centenary year coincides with India’s journey towards 100 years of independence under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, making it a “double bonanza” in the Amrit Kaal era.
FICCI’s Century-Long Journey Recognised
Speaking at the FICCI National Executive Committee meeting, CM Bhupendra Patel described the organisation’s 100-year journey as a major milestone in India’s industrial development. He said FICCI has played a key role in shaping India’s economic policies and supporting industrial growth.
He praised the industry body for remaining one of the most prestigious platforms connecting government and industry for a century.

Gujarat’s Contribution to India’s Growth Story
Highlighting Gujarat’s economic performance, the Chief Minister said the state has set national and global benchmarks in development.
- Gujarat contributes 8.3% to India’s GDP
- Accounts for 18% of industrial output
- Contributes 27% of total exports
He said the state’s progress reflects strong leadership and consistent policy-driven development.
Vision of Viksit Gujarat @ 2047
CM Patel also spoke about Gujarat’s long-term development roadmap, aligned with the national vision of Narendra Modi for “Viksit Bharat @ 2047”.
The state has prepared a plan titled “Viksit Gujarat @ 2047”, aiming to build a $3.5 trillion economy by 2047.
The roadmap focuses on emerging sectors such as:
- Semiconductors
- Artificial Intelligence
- Green energy and sustainable growth
Gujarat Emerging as Semiconductor and Tech Hub
The Chief Minister highlighted Gujarat’s growing role in the global semiconductor ecosystem following the establishment of two semiconductor plants in Sanand.
He also pointed to key developments such as:
- AI Centre of Excellence
- Expansion of data centres
- Growth of fintech ecosystem in GIFT City
He said these initiatives are strengthening Gujarat’s position in future technologies.
Policy-Driven Industrial Ecosystem
CM Patel said Gujarat has become a preferred destination for global industries due to progressive policies, including:
- Gujarat Semiconductor Policy
- IT and ITES Policy
- GCC Policy
He added that nearly 100 Fortune 500 companies are currently operating in the state, reflecting strong investor confidence.
Focus on Women-Led Development
Emphasising inclusive growth, the Chief Minister highlighted the concept of “women-led development” promoted by the Prime Minister.
He mentioned the launch of the “Her Start-up” platform, aimed at encouraging and supporting women entrepreneurs in the state.
FICCI’s Role in Gujarat’s Industrial Journey
FICCI President Anant Goenka said Ahmedabad was a strategic choice for the centenary celebrations, praising Gujarat’s investor-friendly environment.
He noted that the synergy between government policies and private enterprise has made Gujarat a model for other states.
FICCI Gujarat State Council Chairman Gokul Jayakrishna also highlighted the state’s rise as a hub for startups and green energy initiatives.

The celebration was attended by senior officials and industry leaders, including Chief Secretary M.K. Das, FICCI Senior Vice President Vijay Shankar, Vice President Puneet Dalmia, Secretary General Anant Swarup, Director General Jyoti Vij, along with several entrepreneurs and business representatives.
