Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has significantly increased financial assistance for the development and levelling of free residential plots allotted to rural homeless families. The move aims to make land construction-ready, reduce the financial burden on beneficiaries and accelerate rural housing development across the state.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the enhanced assistance supports the vision of ‘Housing for All’ and is expected to help thousands of eligible families build permanent homes more quickly.

Gujarat Enhances Financial Assistance for Rural Housing

The Gujarat government has revised financial assistance provided for preparing free residential plots allotted to rural homeless families.

The enhanced support includes:

  • Financial assistance for land development and plot levelling increased from ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 per plot.
  • Assistance for levelling uneven and undulating land increased from ₹50,000 per hectare to ₹2 lakh per hectare.

The revised financial support is aimed at making plots suitable for construction while reducing development costs for beneficiaries.

Major Boost to Land Levelling Support

Many villages face challenges due to uneven and hilly terrain, making residential construction difficult and expensive.

The enhanced assistance will help:

  • Prepare residential plots for construction.
  • Reduce land development costs.
  • Speed up construction of permanent houses.
  • Improve rural housing infrastructure.
  • Encourage planned village development.

The government expects the higher financial support to significantly improve housing accessibility in rural areas.

Scheme Supports Rural Homeless Families

For several years, the Gujarat government has been implementing a scheme that provides free residential plots measuring 100 square yards to rural homeless families.

With the latest revision, beneficiaries will receive:

  • Free residential plots.
  • Increased financial assistance for plot levelling.
  • Additional support for developing uneven land.
  • Better conditions for timely house construction.

The enhanced package is designed to ensure that beneficiaries receive land that is ready for residential development.

Resolution Issued to Implement Revised Assistance

The Panchayat, Rural Housing and Rural Development Department issued a resolution on July 17 to implement the revised assistance.

The decision was taken under the guidance of:

  • Minister Rushikesh Patel
  • Minister of State Sanjaysinh Mahida

The revised financial assistance will particularly benefit villages where uneven terrain has traditionally increased construction costs and delayed housing projects.

Initiative Supports ‘Housing for All’ Vision

The Gujarat government said the enhanced financial assistance aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Housing for All” vision and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s commitment to rural development and Antyodaya, which focuses on uplifting the most disadvantaged sections of society.

The initiative aims to:

  • Accelerate rural housing development.
  • Improve the quality of life in villages.
  • Strengthen rural housing infrastructure.
  • Promote planned village development.
  • Help rural homeless families own permanent homes faster.

Stronger Financial Support for Rural Development

The increased financial assistance marks another step in Gujarat’s efforts to strengthen rural housing and improve living conditions for economically weaker families. By substantially increasing support for land development and plot levelling, the government aims to remove one of the key barriers to home construction, enabling more rural homeless families to build permanent homes while advancing inclusive and sustainable rural development.
