Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has identified and initiated more than 40 artificial intelligence (AI) use cases across over 14 departments, marking a major step toward AI-driven public administration and citizen services.
The initiatives cover key sectors including agriculture, healthcare, urban development, energy, and governance.
Gujarat Future Technology Initiatives (GFTI) Launched
To strengthen technology-led governance, the state has launched the “Gujarat Future Technology Initiatives” (GFTI) programme.
As part of this framework, institutional mechanisms such as an AI Taskforce, AI Implementation Cell, and AI Action Plan have been set up to ensure structured adoption of AI across departments.
AI Research Ecosystem Strengthened with IAIRO
The state has also established the Indian AI Research Organisation (IAIRO), a Section 8 entity dedicated to advanced research and innovation in artificial intelligence.
Officials said Gujarat’s growing GPU infrastructure and AI ecosystem have positioned it as a leading hub for technology-driven governance in India.
AI Centre of Excellence Drives Innovation
The AI Centre of Excellence, set up in 2025 in collaboration with NASSCOM and Microsoft, has played a key role in boosting innovation.
In its first year, the centre reported:
- Over 1,400 industry engagements
- Training for 350+ government officials
- Support for 100+ startup solutions
- Collaboration with 300+ global delegates
Strong GPU Infrastructure and Digital Expansion
Under the ‘India AI Mission’, Gujarat has operationalised 16 GPU centres and is working towards expanding to more than 100 GPUs statewide.
A “GPU-as-a-Service” platform has also been launched to provide scalable computing access to government departments, startups, and educational institutions.

Gujarat Informatics Limited has developed AI-based tools to improve administrative efficiency, including:
- Document extraction systems
- Grievance classification tools
- AI chatbot services
- Archival search systems
- Gujarati language model and grammar assistant “Bhasha Setu”
Officials said these systems are making governance more transparent, data-driven, and citizen-focused.
Gujarat’s Vision for Technology-Driven Future
The state government said Gujarat will continue expanding AI and digital transformation initiatives to strengthen its position as a leader in technology-enabled governance, improving both administrative efficiency and public service delivery.
