CM Bhupendra Patel Receives ₹6.33 Crore Dividend Cheque from Gujarat State Seed Corporation 

GSSC's cumulative dividend reaches ₹42.82 crore as certified seed production grows to 3.34 lakh quintals, strengthening Gujarat's agricultural sector.

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat State Seed Corporation (GSSC) has paid a ₹6.33 crore dividend to the Gujarat government for the financial year 2024-25, reaffirming its strong financial performance and contribution to the state’s agricultural sector.

The dividend cheque was presented to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel by Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani and Minister of State Ramesh Katara at Gandhinagar. The dividend was declared at a 169% dividend rate for FY 2024-25.

With the latest payout, the Gujarat State Seed Corporation has contributed a cumulative ₹42.82 crore in dividends to the state government since its inception.

Dividend Reflects Strong Financial Performance

The dividend presentation highlights the Corporation’s sustained growth and financial stability.

Key highlights include:

  • Dividend paid for FY 2024-25: ₹6.33 crore
  • Dividend rate: 169%
  • Total dividend paid since inception: ₹42.82 crore

The event was attended by Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjeev Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department R.C. Meena, Managing Director Rajput, and other senior government officials.

Seed Production and Distribution Witness Massive Growth

Established to ensure the availability of high-quality certified seeds for farmers, the Gujarat State Seed Corporation has significantly expanded its operations over the years.

The Corporation’s seed production and distribution have increased from:

  • 1,070 quintals of seed production during its initial years
  • 835 quintals of seed distribution initially
  • To 3,34,739 quintals of seeds produced and distributed during 2024-25

The remarkable growth reflects the Corporation’s expanding role in supporting agricultural productivity across Gujarat.

‘GURABINI’ Brand Gains Strong Market Presence

The Corporation markets its certified seeds under the “GURABINI” brand, which has earned a strong reputation among farmers.

According to the government, GURABINI seeds are in high demand not only across Gujarat but also in other states due to their quality and reliability.

Major Contributor to Gujarat’s Certified Seed Supply

The Gujarat State Seed Corporation plays a significant role in meeting the state’s certified seed requirements.

The Corporation currently accounts for:

  • 30% of spice seed production and distribution.
  • 19% of cereal seeds.
  • 14% of pulse seeds.
  • 10% of oilseed production and distribution.

Its contribution has helped ensure the availability of quality certified seeds to farmers, supporting higher agricultural productivity and crop quality across the state.

Corporation Continues to Support Gujarat’s Agriculture Sector

The Gujarat government said the Corporation remains committed to strengthening the state’s agricultural ecosystem by supplying quality certified seeds and improving access for farmers. The steady growth in production, distribution and financial performance highlights the Corporation’s important role in promoting sustainable agricultural development while contributing revenue to the state government.
