Shimla: In a significant administrative reshuffle aimed at strengthening policing and enhancing administrative efficiency, the Himachal Pradesh Government on Monday transferred eight Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and two Himachal Pradesh Police Service (HPPS) officers with immediate effect.
The transfer orders, issued by the Home Department on the recommendations of the Civil Services Board and approved by Governor Shri Kavinder Gupta, include changes at the level of Inspector General of Police (IG), Superintendents of Police (SPs), and senior district police officers across the state.
Among the key appointments, 2006-batch IPS officer Abhishek Dullar has been appointed Inspector General (Law and Order), while IPS officer Ilma Afroz has been posted as Superintendent of Police (SP), Nurpur. Bilaspur SP Sandeep Kumar Dhawal has been transferred as SP, Dehra.
Abhishek Dullar Appointed IG (Law and Order)
One of the most significant changes in the reshuffle is the appointment of 2006-batch IPS officer Abhishek Dullar as Inspector General (Law and Order), Shimla.
Dullar was previously serving as IG (Communication and Technical Services), Hamirpur. In addition to his new responsibilities, he has also been assigned the additional charge of IG (Armed Police and Training), Daroh.
The appointment places Dullar in a crucial position overseeing law and order management across the state.
D.K. Chaudhary Gets New Assignment
Following Dullar’s transfer, senior IPS officer D.K. Chaudhary has been posted as IG (Communication and Technical Services), Hamirpur.
Chaudhary was previously serving as IG (Armed Police and Training), Daroh.
The transfer ensures continuity in key operational and technical functions within the state’s police administration.
Ilma Afroz Posted as SP, Nurpur
IPS officer Ilma Afroz, who recently returned after completing her ex-India study leave and was awaiting posting, has been appointed Superintendent of Police, Nurpur Police District.
Her appointment is among the most notable postings in the latest reshuffle and is expected to strengthen policing and law enforcement in the Nurpur region.
Afroz replaces HPPS officer Kulbhushan Verma, who has been shifted to a new assignment.
Kulbhushan Verma Appointed Kangra SP
Senior HPPS officer Kulbhushan Verma, currently serving as SP, Nurpur Police District, has been transferred and appointed as Superintendent of Police, Kangra.
Verma replaces 2017-batch IPS officer Ashok Rattan, who has been transferred as SP (Leave Reserve), Shimla.
In addition to his new responsibilities as Kangra SP, Verma will also continue to hold the additional charge of Superintendent of Police, Special Task Force (STF), Dharamshala Zone.
The STF charge was previously held by Ashok Rattan.
Changes in Bilaspur and Dehra
The reshuffle also includes significant changes in Bilaspur and Dehra districts.
Sandeep Kumar Dhawal Posted as SP, Dehra
Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Sandeep Kumar Dhawal has been transferred and appointed as SP, Dehra.
His transfer comes as part of the state’s effort to strengthen district-level policing in newly emerging administrative regions.
Abhishek Promoted as Bilaspur SP
Shimla Additional Superintendent of Police Abhishek has been promoted and posted as the new Superintendent of Police, Bilaspur.
The appointment marks a significant career advancement for the officer and places him in charge of policing operations in the district.
Mayank Chaudhary Shifted to Police Headquarters
Dehra SP Mayank Chaudhary has been transferred and posted as SP (Leave Reserve) at Police Headquarters, Shimla.
Changes in Shimla Police Administration
The reshuffle has also impacted the police administration in the state capital.
Gauravjeet Singh, who was serving as Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Nadaun, has been appointed Additional Superintendent of Police, Shimla.
The posting is expected to strengthen the supervisory framework of the Shimla district police administration.
Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau Gets New SP
HPPS officer Raman Sharma has been transferred and appointed as Superintendent of Police, State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB), Northern Range, Dharamshala.
The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau plays a key role in investigating corruption-related offences and ensuring accountability within government institutions.
Transfers Approved by Governor on Civil Services Board Recommendations
According to the official notification issued by the Home Department, the transfers and postings were approved by Governor Shri Kavinder Gupta based on the recommendations of the Civil Services Board.
The officers concerned have been directed to assume charge of their new assignments immediately.
