The government of Haryana has lately mandated senior IAS officer Mr. Mandip Singh Brar to take charge as the new Home Secretary of the Chandigarh (UT) Administration. Officer Brar was appointed for the post after the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the Ministry of Home Affairs’ proposal for Officer Brar’s inter-cadre deputation.
Mr. Brar, a 2005-batch Haryana cadre IAS officer, was appointed the Deputy Commissioner in the Union Territory on a three-year deputation in October 2018 and had been serving as the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Haryana Government thus far.
It must be mentioned that the posts of the Home and Finance secretaries of the UT Administration have been lying vacant since Home Secretary Nitin Yadav (2000 batch IAS officer) and Finance Secretary Vijay Namdeorao Zade (2002 batch IAS officer) were relieved in June, 2024.
