Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has carried out a significant administrative reshuffle, transferring 4 IAS officers and 30 PCS officers across the state in a move aimed at strengthening district administration and improving governance delivery.
The latest transfer orders primarily involve appointments at the levels of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC)and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in several districts. The reshuffle comes as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to streamline administrative functioning and ensure effective implementation of development and public service initiatives at the grassroots level.
Focus on District Administration
The transfer exercise places particular emphasis on district-level administration, with several young IAS officers being entrusted with key responsibilities in rural development and general administration.

Officials said the new postings are expected to strengthen coordination between district administrations and state departments, particularly in areas related to rural development, revenue administration, welfare schemes, and public grievance redressal.
IAS Officers Given New Responsibilities
Among the key transfers, Devy Goyal (IAS:2022) has been appointed as Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development), Sri Muktsar Sahib. In addition to this responsibility, he has also been entrusted with the additional charge of Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) for the district.
Kritika Goyal (IAS:2023) has been posted as Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development), Mansa, where she will oversee the implementation of rural development programmes and welfare initiatives.
Aditya Sharma (IAS:2023) has been appointed as Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Tarn Taran. His role will include supervision of general administration, coordination among departments, and monitoring of government schemes at the district level.
Meanwhile, Pallavi Mishra (IAS:2023) has been posted as Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Amritsar, one of Punjab’s most important administrative districts. She will be responsible for handling a range of governance and administrative functions.
Large-Scale PCS Transfers
Apart from the IAS officers, the government has also transferred 30 PCS officers, with many being assigned as SDMs and ADCs in various districts.
The PCS-level reshuffle is expected to strengthen administrative capacity at the sub-divisional level, ensuring quicker decision-making, improved public service delivery, and better monitoring of government programmes.
Officials noted that district and sub-divisional administrations play a crucial role in implementing state policies, handling law and order coordination, revenue matters, disaster management, and citizen-centric services.
Government’s Governance Push
The latest reshuffle reflects the Punjab Government’s focus on administrative efficiency and field-level governance. By placing officers in strategic district positions, the government aims to enhance responsiveness, strengthen rural development initiatives, and improve coordination among various departments.
Administrative observers believe that such periodic reshuffles help bring fresh perspectives to governance, improve accountability, and ensure that developmental priorities are implemented effectively across districts.
With the new postings taking effect, the transferred officers are expected to assume their responsibilities shortly and begin overseeing key administrative and developmental functions in their respective jurisdictions.
