This year’s prestigious Saraswati Sahitya Samman has been announced to be given to literateur and historian Dr. Sanjay Alung who is also an IAS officer. This award is being given underlining the special research and investigative historiography done by him on the history and culture of Chhattisgarh. The selection committee unanimously selected Sanjay Alang for the award.
Dr. Alung’s research has done an important job of bringing out new facts with reference and evidence by refuting many misconceptions related to Chhattisgarh and opening new dimensions for research.He also inspired new researchers by developing a research vision to write and see history. The work done by him on Chhattisgarh is very important and special.
For this, he has also received the highest national award for best research education writing from the Ministry of Human Resource and Education of the Center. Dr. Sanjay Alung has published more than 10 books on Chhattisgarh. In these books of Dr. Sanjay Alung – Chhattisgarh: History and Culture, Princely States and Zamindaris of Chhattisgarh, Tribes and Castes of Chhattisgarh, Handicrafts of Chhattisgarh, Geography of Chhattisgarh, Culture of Chhattisgarh, Festivals and Celebrations of Chhattisgarh etc. are included. Sanjay Alang’s 3 poetry collections are also published titled ‘Shav’, ‘Pagdandi Chhip Gyi Hai’, and ‘Nadi Uss Tarah Sundar Thi Jaise Bagh’.
