While the average Joe enjoys films in theatres or at home via OTT platforms, our IAS officers, burdened with demanding schedules and privacy concerns, often face challenges in accessing such leisure. Recognizing this, the IAS Officers’ Association in Vijayawada has set up a private 48-seat mini-theatre where the bureaucrats can enjoy movies with their families in a secure and comfortable setting.

On weekends, officers and their families visit this theatre to relax. Recently, they submitted a request to the Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber, seeking support for screening newly released films at their private theatre. Interestingly, they have also requested that these screenings be provided free of charge.

Traditionally, senior officials like IAS and IPS officers receive complimentary movie passes to regular theatres. However, their unique request for free screenings at their private facility poses a new challenge for the Film Chamber. It remains to be seen how the Chamber will respond to this unusual appeal.
