Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will hold a meeting on August 10 to shortlist three Haryana cadre IPS officer for the next DGP of the state. An empanelment committee of UPSC will meet and finalize the name.
After that, the state government will select the next state director general of police (DGP) from amongst the officers UPSC selected. The term of the incumbent DGP, PK Agrawal, an IPS officer of 1988 batch, ends on August 15.
The UPSC empanelment committee is headed by UPSC chairman or a member and has Union home secretary or his nominee, state chief secretary, state DGP and an officer heading the central police organisations or central paramilitary forces as its members.
As 1988 batch senior IPS officer Manoj Yadava has been appointed the Director General of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), and is on central deputation, the Haryana government seems to be ensuring that three IPS officers serving in the state- Muhammad Akil and RC Mishra of the 1989 batch and Shatrujeet Kapur, 1990 batch, get empaneled on the basis of seniority, merit and experience, by the UPSC.
