Jharsuguda: In a major community welfare initiative, Jharsuguda Police organised a Mega Blood Donation Camp across Brajrajnagar and Bandhabahal, collecting an impressive 2,290 units of blood in a single day.
The massive turnout made the drive a record-breaking one-day blood donation initiative and highlighted the strong spirit of community participation in Jharsuguda.
Of the total collection, 1,656 units were donated at Brajrajnagar, while another 634 units were collected at Bandhabahal.
2,290 Units Collected Across Two Locations
The two centres witnessed active participation from police personnel as well as members of the local community.
The collection of 2,290 units in a single day represents a significant contribution towards strengthening the availability of blood for patients requiring transfusions and emergency medical care.
The initiative also demonstrated how police-community engagement can extend beyond conventional law-and-order responsibilities to broader public welfare activities.

SP Gundala Reddy Raghavendra Leads by Example
Gundala Reddy Raghavendra, IPS, SP Jharsuguda, participated in the blood donation drive and donated blood himself.
His participation was aimed at encouraging police personnel and members of the public to come forward for voluntary blood donation.
Senior officers, including the SDPO, Brajrajnagar, and IICs of Brajrajnagar, Belpahar, Banharpalli and Orient, also donated blood during the campaign.
Their participation helped reinforce the message that senior police officers and personnel can play an important role in motivating citizens to contribute to community welfare initiatives.
Strong Community Participation
The large-scale collection was supported by citizens, volunteers and medical teams who contributed to the successful organisation of the camp.
The overwhelming participation reflected the willingness of residents to support initiatives aimed at saving lives and strengthening the local healthcare system.
The drive also highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation, particularly because donated blood is essential for emergency treatment, surgeries and patients suffering from conditions requiring regular transfusions.

Police Extend Gratitude to Donors and Volunteers
Jharsuguda Police expressed gratitude to all the blood donors, volunteers, medical teams and citizens who supported the initiative.
