On July 7, at a senior citizens’ event in Bavdhan, Pimpri Chinchwad, Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey launched ‘Jeshthanubandh,’ a new 24-hour security helpline service for all elderly residents who are single, whose children are gone, and others in need.

Nilkanth Bajaj, Chairman, Sadabahar Senior Citizen Sangh and Co-Organizer of the event, said, “We organize such events for senior citizens about the role of police in ensuring utmost safety of senior citizens and how senior citizens can stay alert themselves. Hence, with the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner gracing this event, it was a remarkable event where all the senior police officers guided many senior citizens. However, the only thing is that these measures, as in starting this Jeshthanubandh and others, should be implemented in reality as well because several times we, senior citizens, have to keep taking follow-ups from the police regarding any incident, said attendees.

Many notable personalities including Vinay Kumar Choubey, Police Commissioner, Pimpri Chinchwad, Sanjay Shinde, Associate Commissioner of Police, Pimpri Chinchwad, Dr Kakasaheb Dole, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Circle – 2, Pimpri Chinchwad, Dr Vishal Hire, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Wakad Division, Pimpri Chinchwad, Kiran Dagde, Corporator, Pune were present at the event.

Vivek Mugalikar, Co-Organizer of the event & Senior Police Inspector, Hinjewadi Police Station, said “Some of the most well known crimes like cyber theft, stealing money & many more tend to happen with senior citizens. Nowadays, crime is on a rapid rise with senior citizens. Hence, the Pimpri Chinchwad police has decided to effectively initiate 24×7 safety service for senior citizens who can approach the police at any time of the day.”

Vinay Kumar Choubey, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner, said “Nowadays, criminals generally tend to target such senior citizens who live alone & who have no companion. Of course, it also happens with senior citizens who live with their family but mostly the target senior citizens who are alone. Then, they establish an affectionate relation with them & daily interact with them. Then, these criminals start asking for money by falsely telling them that they have various different needs like a medical emergency for them or by any other means & compel the senior citizens to transfer a huge amount to a bank account & swindle money. This is just one type of crime but many other crimes take place with senior citizens. Hence, through this event today, I am honored & privileged to give guidance and assistance in legal matters to all senior citizens living in Bavdhan area and various societies.”
