Jodhpur: IPS Om Prakash Paswan, originally from Vaishali district in Bihar, has been appointed the new Police Commissioner of Jodhpur. A 2004-batch officer of the Rajasthan cadre, Om Prakash is known across the state for his quiet demeanor, strong administrative grip, and relentless crackdown on organized crime.

Prior to this, he served as the Inspector General (IG) of Bikaner Range, where his anti-mafia operations gained widespread praise.

A Career Rooted in Discipline and Deep Community Connect

Mr Prakash’s journey is as inspiring as it is uncommon. Before donning the khaki, he worked as a journalist for over a year and is also known to be a poet, fond of writing in Hindi and Sanskrit since his St. Stephen’s College days.

An alumnus of the prestigious Netarhat Vidyalaya, Mr Prakash comes from a humble background. His father, the late Yogendra Paswan, was an administrative officer, while his mother, Maheshwari Devi, was a homemaker.

Reputation Built on Action: From Operation Flash Out to Public Trust

During his tenure as IG of Bikaner, Om Prakash led Operation Flash Out, a targeted offensive against drug traffickers, illegal arms dealers, and gangsters. His efforts broke the spine of organized crime in the region, earning him a reputation as a “mafia nightmare”.

But what truly sets him apart is his people-centric policing model. He launched the “Police-Public Panchayat” initiative and created the police-publicpanchayat.com portal to build a bridge between citizens and law enforcement. This move significantly improved public trust in the police, making law enforcement more collaborative and transparent.

Decorated Officer with a Creative Soul

Despite a highly disciplined career, IPS Prakash is deeply rooted in culture and literature. A lover of poetry and nature, he is married to Trisha Tripti, a Ranchi native who shares his love for travel. The couple has one son.

Mr Prakash’s career includes key postings as SP in Bundi, Baran, Karauli, Churu, and Alwar, as well as a tenure as Deputy Director of the Rajasthan Police Academy. He has been honored multiple times by both state and central governments for his exemplary service.

Citizens Expect Strong, Sensitive Leadership in Jodhpur

As the new Police Commissioner of Jodhpur, expectations are high. Citizens hope he will bring the same efficiency, fairness, and fearlessness that marked his previous tenures.

If his past is any indicator, criminals in Jodhpur may soon find no place to hide, while the public can expect a responsive, people-first policing system under his leadership.
