Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren Calls for Organ Donation Movement, Urges Citizens to Save Lives Through Awareness Drive

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, addressed a workshop on Organ and Tissue Donation held in Ranchi, highlighting the importance of organ donation as a supreme act of humanity, compassion, and social responsibility.

He said that organ donation is not merely a medical procedure but a life-saving humanitarian contribution that can give multiple people a new lease of life, hope, and future.

Organ Donation Described as a Life-Saving Humanitarian Act

Speaking at the workshop, the Chief Minister emphasized that a single organ donor can save several lives through transplantation.

He noted that organ donation represents:

  • Humanity at its highest level
  • Deep social responsibility
  • Compassion toward those in need

He urged citizens to come forward and contribute to building a more compassionate society through voluntary organ donation.

Emotional Reference to Kerala Organ Donation Case

Hemant Soren recalled a deeply emotional case from Kerala, where the parents of a young girl, after her untimely death, chose to donate her organs.

He shared that he had personally spoken to the father during that difficult moment and described the decision as an inspiring example of humanity that continues to motivate society.

Advanced Medical Technology Strengthening Healthcare

The Chief Minister highlighted that modern healthcare is increasingly technology-driven, with significant advancements in:

  • Robotic surgeries
  • Liver transplantation
  • Kidney transplantation

He said these developments have made complex medical procedures more successful and have increased the importance of organ availability for transplantation.

Need for Greater Awareness and Public Participation

Hemant Soren stressed the need to:

  • Increase awareness about organ donation
  • Educate people about legal and social aspects
  • Encourage family consent and participation
  • Build a supportive environment for donation

He stated that the government is continuously working to promote awareness and strengthen healthcare systems in Jharkhand.

Government Push to Make Organ Donation a Public Movement

The Chief Minister appealed to citizens to transform organ donation into a mass movement, saying it can bring light, hope, and new possibilities into the lives of thousands of patients.

He emphasized that collective efforts are essential to establish a strong culture of organ donation in society.

Focus on Strengthening Healthcare System in Jharkhand

He added that the state government is committed to building a healthier society and improving healthcare infrastructure through continuous reforms.

The workshop was described as an important initiative toward strengthening public awareness and encouraging social participation in healthcare reforms.
