Chandigarh: The government of Punjab has distributed 523 appointment letters to young candidates selected on merit as part of its ongoing transparent recruitment drive. The announcement was made under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who stated that the state has now provided 67,563 government jobs through a merit-based and transparent process.

The appointment distribution event also highlighted major reforms in healthcare expansion and employee welfare policies across the state.

Merit-Based Recruitment Drive Strengthened in Punjab

The state government reiterated its focus on transparent hiring, announcing that all appointments have been made strictly on merit.

Key highlights include:

  • 523 new government job appointments issued today
  • Total of 67,563 youth employed in government services so far

Officials stated that the recruitment process aims to reduce corruption and ensure equal opportunity for eligible candidates across Punjab.

Major Decision: Posting Within 40 km of Home for Employees

In a significant welfare move for government employees, the state government announced that after completion of probation, employees including:

  • Nurses
  • Constables
  • Group C and D staff

will be posted within a maximum radius of 40 km from their home location, wherever possible.

This decision is expected to:

  • Improve work-life balance
  • Reduce long-distance transfers
  • Enhance employee satisfaction and efficiency

Healthcare Expansion Through ‘Aam Aadmi Clinics’

The government also highlighted its continued focus on healthcare accessibility.

  • 990 ‘Aam Aadmi Clinics’ are currently operational
  • 400 new clinics are under construction

These clinics are part of a broader initiative to provide affordable and accessible primary healthcare services to citizens across Punjab.

Officials said the expansion is aimed at strengthening preventive healthcare and reducing the burden on hospitals.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stated that public funds are being directly invested into key sectors including:

  • Healthcare
  • Education
  • Employment generation

He emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring that welfare schemes directly benefit citizens and improve public service delivery.

Health Minister Highlights Workforce Strengthening

Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh stated that the government has significantly increased recruitment in the health sector.

Key remarks included:

  • Large-scale recruitment in healthcare after nearly two decades in some departments
  • Appointment of 24 teachers in the state’s government Ayurvedic college
  • Strengthening of healthcare delivery systems across districts

He added that these steps will improve efficiency and patient care across government medical institutions.

The announcements reflect the government’s continued focus on:
