Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has launched a state-level incubator programme aimed at building a stronger entrepreneurial ecosystem for women-led rural enterprises across the state.

The three-year Jharkhand Incubator Programme was launched by Rural Development Minister Dipika Pandey Singh in Ranchi. The initiative seeks to identify, incubate, finance, formalise and scale women-owned and women-led rural micro and nano enterprises operating in the non-farm manufacturing and services sectors.

The programme is being led by the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) and will be implemented by the IMM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP).

Programme to Support 150 Women-Led Enterprises in First Phase

In its first phase, the programme will support 150 women-led enterprises over a period of three years.

The selected enterprises will receive support in several areas, including:

  • Business training and capacity building.
  • Mentoring and handholding support.
  • Financial guidance.
  • Branding and marketing.
  • E-commerce support.
  • Market linkages.
  • Business formalisation and scaling.

The initiative aims to help women entrepreneurs strengthen their businesses and gain better access to markets and financial opportunities.

Focus on Increasing Women’s Income and Business Growth

Speaking at the launch, Dipika Pandey Singh said Jharkhand’s identity has traditionally been associated with its mineral wealth. She said the hard work, skills and entrepreneurial spirit of rural women will also become an important part of the state’s identity through initiatives such as this programme. The minister said the key objective is to ensure continuous growth in the income and businesses of women-led enterprises, helping them become more self-reliant and competitive.

JSLPS and IIMCIP to Strengthen Rural Entrepreneurship Ecosystem

The Jharkhand Incubator Programme is being implemented through collaboration between JSLPS and IIMCIP. The partnership will focus on building an ecosystem that can support women entrepreneurs from the early stages of business development through incubation and eventually scaling.

Capacity Building Support Planned for 1.5 Lakh Women Enterprises

The programme will have a broader impact beyond the 150 enterprises selected in the first phase.

According to the minister, with support from IIMCIP, institutional collaboration and training will be provided for capacity building and empowerment of around 1.5 lakh women enterprises operating under JSLPS, along with the workers associated with them. This broader support is expected to strengthen the state’s rural enterprise ecosystem and create better opportunities for women to develop sustainable businesses.

Initiative Aims to Promote Women-Led Rural Economic Growth

The Jharkhand Incubator Programme represents an effort to move beyond traditional livelihood support towards structured business incubation and enterprise development for rural women.

By combining training, mentoring, financial guidance, branding, marketing and e-commerce access, the programme aims to help women-led rural businesses become more sustainable and competitive.

The initiative is expected to contribute to women’s economic empowerment while supporting the growth of non-farm manufacturing and services-based enterprises across Jharkhand.
