Ranchi: The Jharkhand Government has announced ₹3 crore financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for people affected by the devastating floods in Assam. Chief Minister Hemant Soren also wrote to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, expressing solidarity with the flood-hit state and assuring every possible support for relief and rehabilitation.

The announcement comes as Assam continues to face widespread destruction caused by floods, which have claimed lives, displaced thousands of families and damaged homes, roads and public infrastructure. Through this assistance, Jharkhand has reaffirmed its commitment to helping fellow states during times of natural disasters.

Hemant Soren Expresses Solidarity with Assam

In his letter, Hemant Soren said Assam is passing through a difficult phase due to devastating floods.

He noted that the disaster has resulted in:

  • Extensive loss of lives and property
  • Thousands of families becoming homeless
  • A major humanitarian crisis across affected areas

The Chief Minister said standing with the people of Assam during such challenging times is the moral responsibility of every state. He added that the people and the Government of Jharkhand deeply sympathise with those affected and remain committed to supporting relief efforts.

Jharkhand Announces ₹3 Crore Relief

To assist the flood-hit state, the Jharkhand Government has sanctioned ₹3 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

According to Hemant Soren, the financial assistance will help strengthen:

  • Relief operations
  • Rehabilitation of displaced families
  • Emergency humanitarian assistance

He said the contribution reflects Jharkhand’s commitment to supporting Assam in overcoming the crisis.

Appeal to the People of Jharkhand

Apart from the government assistance, Hemant Soren appealed to the people of Jharkhand to come forward and extend support to flood victims.

He said every contribution, whether big or small, can make a meaningful difference in helping affected families rebuild their lives.

The Chief Minister also praised the courage and resilience shown by the people of Assam, saying they have continued to support one another despite facing enormous hardships.

Ready to Extend More Assistance

Hemant Soren assured the Assam Government that Jharkhand would continue to stand by the state if additional assistance is required in the future.

He also prayed to Goddess Kamakhya for Assam’s speedy recovery from the natural disaster and expressed hope that normal life would be restored at the earliest.

The assurance highlights the spirit of cooperation among states during times of crisis and reinforces the importance of collective humanitarian efforts.

Assam CM Thanks Jharkhand

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked the Jharkhand Government and Chief Minister Hemant Soren for the financial assistance and message of solidarity.

Why This Matters

Natural disasters often require coordinated efforts beyond state boundaries. Financial assistance from other state governments strengthens relief operations and supports rehabilitation of affected communities.

Jharkhand’s ₹3 crore contribution reflects the spirit of cooperative federalism and humanitarian responsibility. The announcement not only provides financial support but also sends a strong message of national solidarity, encouraging governments and citizens to stand together during difficult times.
