Indian Masterminds Stories

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a new centre for investment, industrial development and employment, with the state government focusing on sectors ranging from food processing and textiles to Artificial Intelligence (AI), data, drones, defence and science and technology.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said the state has created a favourable ecosystem for investors by introducing policy reforms, improving infrastructure and identifying the local strengths of different regions. The government aims to convert these regional capabilities into new opportunities for industry, investment and employment.

Dr. Yadav made the remarks while interacting with media representatives on the first day of his Dubai visit.

Madhya Pradesh Implements More Than 25 New Policies

The Chief Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives to improve ease of doing business in the country have been effectively implemented in Madhya Pradesh.

The state government has undertaken several policy reforms, including:

  • Abolition of several outdated and irrelevant laws.
  • Implementation of more than 25 new policies.
  • Creation of a more investor-friendly business environment.
  • Facilitation of the establishment and operation of large industries.
  • Provision of necessary infrastructure and facilities for investors.

According to Dr. Yadav, these reforms have accelerated industrial development in the state and strengthened investor confidence.

MSME Sector Provides Employment to More Than 1.10 Crore People

The Chief Minister highlighted the significant contribution of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector to Madhya Pradesh’s economy.

More than 1.10 crore people are currently employed in the state’s MSME sector. The government has also undertaken new recruitment in government services.

Dr. Yadav said Madhya Pradesh is witnessing large-scale production and is steadily strengthening its position in the export sector.

The state recorded exports worth more than ₹76,000 crore in 2026-27, he said.

The government’s business-friendly policies are aimed not only at attracting large investments but also at providing local enterprises with opportunities to expand.

AI, Data, Drone and Defence Sectors Get Special Focus

Madhya Pradesh is placing special emphasis on emerging sectors that are expected to drive the future economy.

According to the Chief Minister, the state is promoting:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Data and technology
  • Drone technology
  • Defence
  • Information Technology
  • Science and innovation
  • Food processing
  • Textiles

Three new IT parks are being developed in Rewa, Indore and Ujjain. These parks are expected to create new opportunities for technology companies, startups and employment for young people.

The state is also developing a Science City, which Dr. Yadav said would play an important role in science, technology, innovation and next-generation skill development.

Land, Power, Water and Green Energy Strengthen Investment Ecosystem

Dr. Yadav said Madhya Pradesh has a strong advantage in terms of the basic resources required for industrial development.

The state has:

  • Adequate land and a strong land bank
  • Surplus electricity
  • Sufficient water resources
  • Growing green energy capacity
  • Infrastructure to meet industrial power requirements
  • Improving road, rail and air connectivity

The Chief Minister said Madhya Pradesh is producing some of the cheapest electricity in the world. The combination of affordable power, green energy, land, water and infrastructure makes the state competitive for investors.

He added that the state is strengthening connectivity along with industrial infrastructure, helping Madhya Pradesh emerge as an attractive destination for investors from across the country.

Investor-Friendly Policies Deliver Benefits on the Ground

The Chief Minister said the state government has gone beyond merely introducing policies and is ensuring that investors receive the benefits promised under those policies.

The government has focused on creating an ecosystem that combines:

  • Business-friendly policies
  • Necessary industrial infrastructure
  • Investor support
  • Availability of land and resources
  • Better connectivity
  • A conducive environment for setting up and operating industries

Dr. Yadav said the effective implementation of business reforms undertaken under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership has contributed to faster establishment of large industries and increased investor confidence.

Regional Industry Conclaves to Take Industrial Development to Districts

The Regional Industry Conclaves have created new opportunities to promote local industries and investment across different parts of Madhya Pradesh.

Dr. Yadav said the initiative has received appreciation across the country. The government is now focusing on expanding industrial activity at the district level.

Under this approach, the state is identifying the resources and potential available in different regions and converting them into opportunities for:

  • Industry
  • Investment
  • Production
  • Employment

The objective is to ensure that industrial development is not restricted to major cities but reaches districts and local areas across Madhya Pradesh.

Education and Healthcare to Become More Employment-Oriented

The Chief Minister stressed that attracting investment must be accompanied by the development of skilled human resources.

For this reason, Madhya Pradesh is working towards making education more employment-oriented.

The healthcare sector is also being strengthened with a similar approach, with the aim of improving services while creating additional opportunities for employment and investment.

International Flights and Four New Airports Planned

Better air connectivity is another key component of Madhya Pradesh’s investment and tourism strategy.

Dr. Yadav said international flights are already operating from Bhopal and Indore, while preparations are underway to develop four additional airports in the state.

He also said Gwalior and Jabalpur are ready from an air-connectivity perspective, with possibilities of international flight operations from these cities in the future.

Improved road, rail and air connectivity is helping Madhya Pradesh connect more rapidly with domestic and international markets, benefiting:

  • Industry
  • Trade
  • Investment
  • Tourism

Mahakal Lok Drives Major Growth in Tourism

Madhya Pradesh is emerging as a major player not only in industrial investment but also in tourism.

Dr. Yadav said the construction of Mahakal Lok has resulted in an unprecedented increase in the number of devotees visiting Ujjain.

The Chief Minister said around 14 crore tourists from outside the state visited Madhya Pradesh this year.

The expansion of tourism is also creating opportunities across several related sectors, including:

  • Hotels and hospitality
  • Transportation
  • Food and restaurants
  • Handicrafts
  • Local products
  • Food processing
  • Services

The state is therefore strengthening its identity as both a major tourism destination and an important investment hub.

Madhya Pradesh Targets Investment-Led Employment Growth

Dr. Yadav said Madhya Pradesh has significant potential for industrial development across multiple sectors, including food processing, textiles, IT, AI, data, drones, defence and tourism.

The state’s key strengths include:

  • Adequate land and land bank
  • Affordable and surplus power
  • Water resources
  • Green energy
  • Better infrastructure
  • Improving air connectivity
  • Strong road and rail networks
  • Investor-friendly policies

The Chief Minister said the government is building an investment ecosystem that connects local resources and regional potential with industries.
