Madhya Pradesh: ₹450 Crore Logistics Park Plan to Boost Rail, Warehousing and Supply Chains

Madhya Pradesh is exploring a ₹250–450 crore rail-linked logistics park, with Indore and Pithampur among the locations under consideration for the proposed investment.
Indian Masterminds Stories

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is strengthening its logistics and supply-chain infrastructure as the state explores a ₹250–450 crore rail-linked logistics park with Sharaf Group. The proposed project is expected to bring rail connectivity, warehousing and multimodal logistics facilities together, with Indore and Pithampur identified as locations of interest.

The proposal was discussed during Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav’s meeting with Sharaf Group President and CEO Shyam Kapoor at Taj Dubai on September 8, the third day of the AIM Congress 2026 (Annual Investment Meeting).

The proposed investment of around US$30–50 million could create employment opportunities for approximately 300–600 people. The company is also open to exploring other suitable locations across Madhya Pradesh.

CM Yadav invited Kapoor to the upcoming Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2027, with the state seeking to take forward investment discussions initiated at AIM Congress.

MP Explores Rail-Linked Logistics Infrastructure

The proposed logistics park is part of the discussions around improving the movement and distribution of goods in Madhya Pradesh.

The planned infrastructure includes:

  • Multimodal logistics parks
  • Modern warehousing facilities
  • Regional distribution centres
  • Rail-linked logistics infrastructure

Rail connectivity can support the movement of goods between industrial and agricultural production centres, domestic markets and export destinations.

The discussions also covered export-oriented cargo consolidation and international distribution of products from Madhya Pradesh.

Focus on Cold Chain and Supply Chains

Another important area under discussion is cold-chain infrastructure for sectors that depend on temperature-controlled storage and transportation.

The proposed areas include agriculture and food, pharmaceuticals and organised retail.

For Madhya Pradesh, strengthening cold-chain facilities is particularly relevant to the movement and storage of agricultural and food products. The discussions also covered modern logistics systems that can support the distribution requirements of different sectors.

Retail, hospitality and tourism investments at major commercial and destination locations were also discussed as part of the broader investment engagement.

Connecting Local Businesses to Logistics

The discussions also included supply-chain technology and workforce development.

Sharaf Group is exploring ways to connect local transporters, vendors and service providers with its wider logistics ecosystem. Such linkages can bring local businesses into logistics and supply-chain activities associated with new facilities.

The proposed approach therefore covers not only physical infrastructure but also the technology, workforce and service networks required to operate a modern logistics system.

Why Logistics Matters for Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh’s location in central India makes efficient transportation and distribution important for its industrial and agricultural economy.

A combination of rail connectivity, warehousing, regional distribution and cold-chain facilities can support the movement of goods from producers and industrial units to markets.

For the state, logistics infrastructure is also closely linked to manufacturing, agriculture, trade and exports. Better supply-chain facilities can help businesses manage storage and transportation requirements across different markets.

The proposed logistics park would add to this infrastructure if the investment moves into the implementation stage.

Sharaf Group’s India Logistics Network

During the meeting, Shyam Kapoor briefed CM Yadav about the group’s Indian operations through Hind Terminals Private Limited (HTPL).

HTPL operates multimodal agri-logistics parks, rail and road transportation and third-party logistics services. It also operates inland container depots and provides cold-chain solutions for fresh agricultural products.

According to the company, its Indian network includes around 35 freight trains and nearly 900 trucks, along with storage yards in different parts of the country.

The group’s existing experience in multimodal transportation and logistics forms the background to its interest in developing facilities in Madhya Pradesh.

MP’s Global Investment Outreach

The discussions in Dubai are part of Madhya Pradesh’s wider investment outreach at AIM Congress 2026.

The state is using the platform to showcase opportunities across sectors and attract investment into infrastructure and economic activities. The invitation to Sharaf Group for GIS 2027 is aimed at continuing the engagement and taking the proposed investment discussions forward.

The proposed logistics park, along with discussions on warehousing, cold chain, distribution and supply-chain technology, places logistics infrastructure among the areas being explored for Madhya Pradesh’s development.

If the proposal progresses, the investment would add a rail-linked logistics facility to the state’s infrastructure and create employment as well as business opportunities connected with transportation, warehousing and supply-chain services.
