Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a major cultural and educational initiative on the occasion of the 486th birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap, declaring that the life story of the legendary warrior will now be included in school textbooks across the state.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav during a state-level programme held in Bhopal’s Maharana Pratap Nagar.
Maharana Pratap’s Life to Be Taught in Schools
CM Mohan Yadav said that Maharana Pratap is not just a historical king but a timeless symbol of courage, sacrifice, self-respect, and patriotism.
He stated that:
- Students in Madhya Pradesh will now study inspirational stories of Maharana Pratap
- His legacy will be formally included in the school curriculum
- The initiative aims to instill values of bravery and nationalism among children
The Chief Minister emphasized that Maharana Pratap’s life continues to inspire generations through his unwavering commitment to his motherland.
State-Level Celebration Marking 486th Birth Anniversary
A grand state-level programme was organized in Bhopal on June 17 to mark the birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap.
Addressing the gathering, CM Yadav said that Maharana Pratap never bowed before enemies and always upheld the dignity of his motherland, making him a revered figure across all sections of society.
He also highlighted the legendary bond between Maharana Pratap and his horse Chetak, calling it a story of unmatched loyalty and bravery.
‘Maharana Pratap Lok’ to Be Inaugurated Soon in Bhopal
The Chief Minister also announced that the upcoming “Maharana Pratap Lok” in Bhopal will be inaugurated soon.
The project aims to preserve and showcase the life, legacy, and valor of Maharana Pratap through a dedicated cultural and historical complex.
This initiative is part of the state’s broader effort to strengthen cultural heritage tourism and historical awareness.
Madhya Pradesh First State to Declare Holiday on Maharana Pratap Jayanti
CM Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is the first state in India to declare a public holiday on Maharana Pratap Jayanti.
He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is working to bring its rich historical legacy and great personalities to global recognition.
The state government has also formed the Maharana Pratap Kalyan Board to support the welfare and cultural preservation of the Rajput community.
Focus on Heritage-Based Development
CM Yadav reiterated that Madhya Pradesh is progressing with the vision of “development through heritage”.
Key initiatives include:
- Establishment of research institutions dedicated to historical studies
- Cultural programs such as Vikramaditya Mahanaatya
- Scholarships for researchers studying Indian heritage
- Development of museums such as the upcoming Veer Durga Das Rathore Museum in Ujjain
He said these initiatives aim to connect younger generations with India’s rich historical and cultural roots.
The Madhya Pradesh government’s decision to include Maharana Pratap’s biography in school education and develop a dedicated cultural complex reflects its focus on promoting historical awareness and national pride. Officials said these initiatives will help inspire students and preserve India’s rich heritage for future generations.
