Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has reaffirmed that the Madhya Pradesh government remains fully committed to enhancing respect, benefits, and facilities for farmers under the “Krishak Kalyan Year 2026.” He said that continuous efforts will be made to strengthen farmer welfare and ensure better support for “annadatas” across the state.
A farmers’ delegation met the Chief Minister in Bhopal on Tuesday and expressed gratitude for several pro-farmer decisions taken by the state government.
Farmers Thank CM for Welfare-Oriented Decisions
During the meeting, members of the farmers’ delegation appreciated key government decisions, including:
- Increase in compensation up to four times for land acquisition
- Extension of loan repayment deadline from March 31 to May 31
- Improved wheat procurement arrangements across the state
The delegation stated that these steps reflect the government’s strong commitment toward agricultural development and farmer welfare.
Record Wheat Procurement in Madhya Pradesh
The Chief Minister highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s strong performance in wheat procurement and stated that the state has emerged as a leading contributor in the national procurement system.
Key highlights include:
- 13.42 lakh farmers participated in wheat procurement
- 104.36 lakh metric tonnes of wheat procured
- Procurement period: April 9 to May 28
- MSP: ₹2,585 per quintal
- Additional bonus: ₹40 per quintal
- Total payment to farmers: ₹2,625 per quintal
- Total payout: ₹27,196.48 crore
Madhya Pradesh ranked first in India in terms of number of farmers participating, and second after Punjab in total wheat procurement volume.
Better Procurement System Benefits Farmers
CM Mohan Yadav said that the improved procurement system ensured timely purchase and payment to farmers, reducing delays and increasing trust in government support mechanisms.
Farmers expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made during the procurement season, stating that the system helped them sell their produce smoothly and at fair prices.
Suggestions from Farmers’ Delegation
The farmers’ representatives also submitted suggestions to the Chief Minister for further improvement in agricultural policies. These included:
- Strengthening procurement arrangements for moong (green gram)
- Completing registration process for moong and urad procurement
- Linking canals with ponds to improve irrigation infrastructure
The government assured that these suggestions would be examined for further action.
Government Reiterates Commitment to Farmer Welfare
CM Yadav emphasized that under the Krishak Kalyan Year 2026, the state government will continue to prioritize farmer welfare, ensuring respect, financial security, and improved infrastructure for agricultural communities.
He reiterated that Madhya Pradesh remains committed to strengthening the agricultural economy through consistent policy support and efficient implementation of schemes.
The meeting reflected growing cooperation between farmers and the state government, with strong emphasis on welfare policies, record procurement achievements, and future agricultural reforms aimed at boosting productivity and farmer income in Madhya Pradesh.
