Mahidpur: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has said that the upcoming four-lane road passing through Dongla will significantly reshape the future of Mahidpur and strengthen regional connectivity. He made these remarks while addressing a development inauguration ceremony in Mahidpur assembly constituency in Ujjain district.
During the event, the Chief Minister inaugurated 19 development projects worth a total of ₹207.57 crore through a single click, marking a major infrastructure boost for the region ahead of the upcoming Simhastha 2028 preparations in Ujjain and surrounding areas.
Dongla Four-Lane Road to Boost Transport and Growth
CM Yadav emphasized that the new four-lane road passing through Dongla will redefine the development trajectory of Mahidpur.
He noted that Mahidpur already holds a strong identity in the transportation sector, and improved connectivity will further accelerate economic activity, mobility, and regional integration.

₹188 Crore Samakota Barrage Among Key Projects Inaugurated
A major highlight of the inauguration was the ₹188.42 crore Samakota Barrage project, aimed at strengthening water conservation and irrigation infrastructure.
The Chief Minister said the barrage will:
- Improve groundwater levels
- Ensure adequate irrigation water for farmers
- Strengthen long-term water security for the region
- Support preparations for Simhastha 2028
He described the project as a “lifeline for agriculture” and a crucial step in water conservation efforts.
13 New Sub-Health Centres and Education & Power Infrastructure Boost
The inaugurated projects also include:
- 13 newly constructed sub-health centre buildings
- New school and college buildings
- A new electricity sub-station
These developments are expected to improve healthcare access, education facilities, and power supply reliability in rural and semi-urban areas of Mahidpur.
Cultural and Historical Significance of Mahidpur
CM Yadav highlighted Mahidpur’s cultural richness, mentioning its famous traditional foods like “mawa-bati” and “gulati,” and its historical importance.
He also referred to:
- The association of Mahidpur with Lord Krishna and Sudama’s friendship legends
- The historical role of Dongla in time calculation and astronomy
- Modern observatory development inspired by India’s ancient scientific heritage
He added that efforts are being made to establish Dongla as a reference point for global standard time calculations.

Simhastha 2028 Preparations and Massive Infrastructure Expansion
The Chief Minister said that thousands of crores worth of development works are underway in Ujjain and surrounding regions for Simhastha 2028.
He reiterated that the state government is focusing heavily on:
- Water conservation
- Infrastructure expansion
- Rural development
- Urban modernization
Government Welfare Schemes Highlighted
Referring to national initiatives, CM Yadav praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for welfare schemes such as housing for the poor, free LPG connections, and health insurance coverage up to ₹5 lakh.
He also highlighted state-level initiatives including:
- Air ambulance service in Madhya Pradesh
- ₹25,000 incentive under the “Rahveer Yojana” for helping road accident victims
- Continued financial support under the Ladli Behna Yojana
The Chief Minister stated that the government has already transferred around ₹60,000 crore under the Ladli Behna scheme.
Agriculture and Irrigation Expansion Targets
CM Yadav presented a detailed overview of agricultural development, stating:
- Irrigated land has increased from 44 lakh hectares to 65 lakh hectares in the last few years
- The target is to reach 100 lakh hectares in the next 2.5 years
- Farmers are being paid fair prices for their produce
- Wheat procurement at ₹2,652 per quintal has been ensured under MSP support
- Soybean farmers are benefiting from the Bhavantar scheme
He also announced plans to provide daytime electricity supply for irrigation.

- Member of Parliament from Ujjain Anil Firojiya
- Mahidpur MLA Dinesh Jain (Bosu)
Several other public representatives and a large number of local residents attended the programme.
