Hyderabad: In a significant administrative move aimed at strengthening policing and improving operational efficiency, the Telangana government on Wednesday announced a major reshuffle in the state police force, transferring 20 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers across key commissionerates and police zones.
The reshuffle affects crucial jurisdictions including Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Future City, Malkajgiri, and Siddipet, indicating a broad-based realignment of senior leadership in urban and semi-urban policing areas.
Key Objective Behind the Reshuffle
Officials indicated that the transfers are part of routine administrative measures to ensure better law-and-order management, improve coordination among police units, and bring fresh leadership to sensitive and high-density policing zones. The changes come at a time when the state is focusing on urban expansion, cybercrime control, and strengthening security in fast-growing regions like Future City.
Senior-Level Appointments in Hyderabad Police
Several senior IPS officers have been assigned important responsibilities within the Hyderabad City Police, including commissionerate-level and zonal postings –
- Tafseer Iqubal has been posted as Additional Commissioner of Police, South Range, Hyderabad.
- N Swetha has been appointed Joint Commissioner of Police, North Range, Hyderabad.
- SM Vijay Kumar has taken charge as Joint Commissioner of Police, Special Branch, Hyderabad.
At the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) level in Hyderabad city –
