Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that the state government is committed to the comprehensive development of the Mahakoshal region, with a particular focus on strengthening industries, trade, tourism, infrastructure and employment opportunities in Jabalpur and surrounding districts.
Addressing representatives of the Mahakoshal Chamber of Commerce and the Jabalpur Traders Association at his residence, Chief Minister Yadav said the government would work to create new opportunities for entrepreneurs and help turn their business and development aspirations into reality.
Special Industry Conclave to Be Held in Jabalpur
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that a special seminar with representatives of the industrial sector will soon be organised in Jabalpur.
The initiative is expected to help the Jabalpur region benefit from the Global Investors Summit 2027. The government also plans to identify new opportunities for Jabalpur in sectors such as IT and mining.
Yadav said that just as a Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) is being developed in Gwalior, Jabalpur should also receive opportunities in emerging sectors.
The government plans to connect Indore, Bhopal and Jabalpur through a special industrial corridor, which will be developed as a greenfield corridor to accelerate industrial activities across the state.

Government Focuses on Industrial and Business Growth
The Chief Minister said Mahakoshal has significant potential for industrial and commercial development. He highlighted the government’s efforts to provide facilities to entrepreneurs through around 25 new policies.
The government is also encouraging tourism activities across several districts of the region, including:
- Jabalpur
- Mandla
- Dindori
- Balaghat
- Seoni
- Katni
- Pandhurna
- Chhindwara
- Narsinghpur
Yadav said the region has natural resources and strong potential for development in multiple sectors.
Jabalpur to Be Developed as a Metropolitan City
The Chief Minister said the government is developing Bhopal and Indore as metropolitan cities and now plans to develop Jabalpur along similar lines.
He also invited business and trader associations to submit suggestions for the future master plan of Jabalpur. These suggestions, he said, would be considered for inclusion in the draft master plan.
The government is also looking at improving urban infrastructure and creating new opportunities for business and investment in the city.
Logistics Hub Proposed in Katni
During the discussion, representatives of the trader association suggested developing a logistics hub in the Mahakoshal region.
Chief Minister Yadav agreed with the proposal and said Katni could be an appropriate location because of its strong mining potential.
He said developing a logistics hub in Katni could provide greater benefits to commercial activities and support the movement of goods connected with the mining sector.
Entrepreneurs Highlight Key Growth Sectors
During the interaction, entrepreneurs and traders shared their views on the development potential of several important sectors in Jabalpur and Mahakoshal.
The areas highlighted included:
- Semiconductor sector
- Medical university
- Mining
- Logistics
- Hotel industry
- Tourism
- Automobile sector
- Infrastructure development
- Education
- International sports stadium
Industry representatives also called for measures to accelerate industrial development and make better use of the available land bank in Jabalpur.
Focus on Defence, Mining and Education
Chief Minister Yadav said Jabalpur has considerable potential in sectors such as defence production, iron production, mining, milk production and education.
He urged traders and business leaders to prepare the younger generation not only to carry forward traditional businesses but also to explore new areas that can generate employment and create new enterprises.
He said the state government is committed to fulfilling the aspirations of all sections of society, including the poor, farmers and youth.
Tourism Infrastructure to Get Major Push
The Chief Minister also highlighted the tourism potential of Mahakoshal, particularly Kanha National Park, which is internationally known for tiger tourism.
He said the government is working to provide better facilities for tourists in the region. A modern Zoo and Rescue Centre is also being developed in Jabalpur, where visitors will have opportunities to see tigers.
The state government has already provided the region with initiatives including a technical university and a modern zoo and rescue centre, according to the Chief Minister.
Bhedaghat Development Gets ₹87 Crore
Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh said new dimensions of development have been established in Jabalpur and Mahakoshal under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
He highlighted the government’s allocation of ₹87 crore for the comprehensive development of Bhedaghat, a major tourist destination associated with the Narmada River.
Singh said Jabalpur has received several development initiatives over the past two-and-a-half years and that the state government remains committed to fulfilling the aspirations of the Mahakoshal region.
He also highlighted the government’s focus on urban infrastructure development.
Industry Representatives Put Forward Key Suggestions
Industrialist Ravi Gupta said Jabalpur and Mahakoshal need faster industrial development and stressed that economic strength is an important measure of regional development.
He said Jabalpur has sufficient land bank for establishing industries across different sectors.
Other representatives of trader associations also put forward suggestions related to:
- Promotion of the hotel industry
- Relaxation of RERA rules
- Granting industry status to ready-mixed concrete material
- Processing of forest products
- Expansion of tourism facilities
- Expansion of road networks
The representatives also thanked the state government for its support towards the development of the region and welcomed the initiative to establish a Trader Welfare Board in the state.
Senior Officials Attend the Meeting
Senior officials present during the interaction included Additional Chief Secretary, Chief Minister’s Office and Industrial Policy & Investment Promotion Department, Neeraj Mandloi; MPIDC Managing Director Chandramauli Shukla; Secretary, Transport and Commissioner, Public Relations, Manish Singh, along with other senior officials.
Chief Minister Yadav called upon industry and business representatives to work together with the government to transform Jabalpur and the wider Mahakoshal region into a major centre of industry, trade, tourism and employment.
