Bhopal: Three youths died after drowning during Ganesh idol immersion in Badnawar, Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh, on Friday. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed grief over the incident and directed that ₹4 lakh in financial assistance be provided to the family of each deceased youth.
The incident took place near the river along Delchi Road, where the youths had gone with friends for Ganesh idol immersion. According to the information available, the three entered deeper water during the immersion and drowned.
The incident has once again highlighted the importance of following designated immersion points and taking precautions around deep water during religious gatherings and festivals.
Three Youths Drown During Ganesh Immersion
The three youths had reportedly reached a pond near Delchi Road along with their friends to immerse the Ganesh idol.
During the immersion, they moved into deeper water. One of the youths reportedly began drowning, following which his two friends entered the water in an attempt to save him.
The rescue attempt, however, ended tragically, with all three youths drowning.
Local residents reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and pulled the youths out of the water. They were subsequently taken to the Civil Hospital for treatment, where they were declared dead.

Youths Had Moved Beyond Designated Immersion Point
According to Dhar ASP Parul Velapurkar, the three youths had moved approximately 500 metres beyond the designated immersion site.
The police officer said one of the youths entered deep water and began to drown. His two friends then went into the water to help him, but all three were pulled into the deeper section.
The details underline the risks involved when people move beyond designated areas, particularly at water bodies where the depth can change suddenly.
CM Mohan Yadav Announces ₹4 Lakh Assistance
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed deep sorrow over the deaths and described the incident as extremely painful.
The Chief Minister said his condolences were with the bereaved families and directed that ₹4 lakh be provided to the family of each deceased youth.
The announcement is intended to provide immediate financial assistance to the families following the loss.
CM Yadav also prayed for peace for the departed souls and strength for the grieving families to cope with the loss.
