New Delhi: The National Backward Classes Finance & Development Corporation (NBCFDC), under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, has reported its highest-ever performance in the financial year 2025–26. The organisation recorded a significant rise in disbursements and expanded its outreach across India for the socio-economic upliftment of Other Backward Classes (OBC) communities.
NBCFDC functions as a Section 8 company and provides concessional financial assistance through banks, State Channelising Agencies (SCAs), and NBFCs.
Highest Ever Disbursement of ₹613.75 Crore
During FY 2025–26, NBCFDC achieved its highest-ever loan disbursement of ₹613.75 crore, benefiting 61,621 individuals. This represents an increase of around 16% compared to the previous financial year.
The corporation also achieved 100% geographical coverage and nearly 99% utilization of available funds, reflecting improved efficiency in implementation.

VISVAS Scheme Expands Financial Reach
To enhance access to concessional finance, the Ministry introduced the VISVAS Interest Subvention Scheme in FY 2024–25. Under this initiative:
- NBCFDC fully utilized a grant of ₹35.20 crore in FY 2025–26
- Concessional lending benefited 1,92,650 individuals
- Total loan support under the scheme reached ₹2,720 crore
The scheme has significantly widened financial inclusion among disadvantaged communities.
Support for Education and Skill Development
Under the National Fellowship for OBCs, NBCFDC disbursed ₹123.33 crore, benefiting 2,505 students during the year.
Additionally, under the PM-DAKSH scheme, the corporation achieved near-complete utilization of a ₹45.34 crore grant, supporting skill development initiatives aimed at improving employability among OBC youth.
Empowerment of Denotified and Nomadic Tribes
NBCFDC played a key role in implementing the livelihood component of the SEED (Scheme for Economic Empowerment of Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes). During FY 2025–26, financial assistance of ₹19.20 crore was extended, benefiting:
- 2,373 Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
- 28,476 individuals
This initiative aims to strengthen income generation opportunities for some of the most marginalized communities.
Outreach and Capacity Building Initiatives
The corporation also supported national outreach efforts by organizing two Shilp Melas in Bhubaneswar and Ahmedabad. In addition, it provided logistical assistance for the Chintan Shivir held in Dehradun on April 7–8, 2025.
