NLC India Flags Off 47 Electric Vehicles in Neyveli for Eco-Friendly Solid Waste Collection and Green Township Drive

 NLC India Limited launches EV fleet to improve door-to-door waste collection, promote sustainability, reduce emissions, and empower women workforce in township services.

New Delhi: NLC India Limited has launched a fleet of 47 electric vehicles (EVs) in Neyveli to strengthen door-to-door solid waste collection and promote sustainable township management.

The initiative was officially flagged off by Chairman and Managing Director Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, in the presence of senior officials including Director (HR) Samir Swarup and other executives, staff members, and representatives from unions and the public.

EV Fleet to Improve Waste Collection Efficiency

The newly introduced electric vehicles will be deployed across township areas for efficient municipal solid waste collection.

Key objectives of the initiative include:

  • Improving door-to-door waste collection services
  • Reducing dependence on fuel-powered vehicles
  • Cutting carbon emissions
  • Enhancing operational efficiency in township management

Officials stated that the move is aligned with NLC India’s long-term sustainability and environmental goals.

A key highlight of the project is the involvement of an empowered women workforce, who will operate the EV fleet for waste collection services.

This approach aims to create inclusive employment opportunities while strengthening public service delivery in Neyveli township.
