New Delhi: NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NLC India Limited (NLCIL), has signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SJVN Limited (SJVNL) for the development of a 200 MW wind power project. The agreement marks another significant step in strengthening India’s renewable energy capacity and aligns with the country’s broader goals of clean energy transition and carbon reduction.

PPA Signed in Presence of Senior Leadership

The Power Purchase Agreement was formally signed in Chennai by authorised representatives of NIRL and SJVN Limited. The signing ceremony was held in the presence of senior officials from both organisations, highlighting the strategic importance of the collaboration.

The event was attended by Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLC India Limited and Chairman of NIRL, and Bhupender Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of SJVN Limited. Part of SJVN’s 600 MW Wind Power Programme

The 200 MW wind power project forms part of SJVN’s larger 600 MW ISTS-connected Wind Power Projects under the Wind-2 Tranche. The project was awarded through a Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process, ensuring cost-effective and transparent procurement of renewable energy.

Once commissioned, the project is expected to generate around 500 million units of green electricity annually. This will significantly contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting sustainable power generation for the country.

Boost to Clean Energy and Energy Security

The signing of the PPA reflects strong cooperation between two leading Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs). It underscores their shared commitment to accelerating the deployment of renewable energy, supporting India’s clean energy ambitions, and strengthening long-term energy security.

The project is also expected to play a role in meeting India’s renewable energy targets while promoting environmentally responsible growth through increased adoption of wind power.
