Dharmanagar: Tripura State Election Commissioner Dr P. K. Chakraborty and officiating Director General of Police G. S. Rao (IPS: 1999: Tripura), reviewed election preparedness and security arrangements in North Tripura on Thursday ahead of the TTAADC Village Committee elections.
The review meeting was held at the office of the District Magistrate and Collector in Dharmanagar and was attended by senior administrative and police officials, including North Tripura Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai (IPS: 2019: Tripura), election officials, Returning Officers, Assistant Returning Officers and SDPOs.
Poll Logistics and Security Reviewed
Officials briefed the State Election Commission on the movement of polling personnel from dispatch centres to polling stations, distribution of election materials, polling station arrangements and the return of polling teams and election materials to receiving centres after voting.

Security arrangements, including force deployment, area domination, patrolling, polling station security and monitoring on polling day, were also reviewed. Chakraborty said the Commission was satisfied with the preparations and expressed confidence that the election would be conducted in a free and peaceful manner.
74 Companies of Central Forces Available
Officiating DGP G. S. Rao, said the security preparations were satisfactory, while some additional measures had been suggested.
He highlighted operational challenges in parts of North Tripura, where several polling stations are located in remote or interior areas. Poor road conditions during rainfall and limited mobile connectivity in some locations could affect the movement and communication of polling and security personnel, officials said.
Rao said 74 companies of CRPF, CAPF, BSF, SSB and ITBP personnel had been made available for the Village Committee elections. Around 12.5 companies have been allocated to North Tripura, where the forces have already been deployed for area domination and patrolling.
Security arrangements are scheduled to remain in place through the polling process and until the completion of counting.
Polling on September 28
The general election to the TTAADC Village Committees is scheduled for September 28, 2026, while counting is scheduled for October 5. The State Election Commission has been reviewing preparedness across districts ahead of the polls.
Earlier, the SEC said 10,889 nominations had been found valid after scrutiny, while 74 companies of central armed police forces had been sanctioned for the election.
