NTPC to Develop 25 Model Anganwadi Centres in Jharkhand’s Chatra with ₹1.08 Crore CSR Initiative

Project aims to improve maternal and child health, nutrition, and early education while reducing MMR and IMR in the district.

Chatra, Jharkhand: NTPC North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the district administration of Chatra to develop 25 Anganwadi centres into model facilities. The initiative aims to enhance maternal and child healthcare, nutrition, and early childhood education in the region.

Under this project, NTPC will provide financial assistance of approximately ₹1.08 crore to support the development of these centres.

Focus on Health, Nutrition and Early Childhood Education

The project is designed to address key social challenges, including maternal and infant health, malnutrition, and access to quality pre-school education.

Officials stated that the initiative will help improve:

  • Maternal health services
  • Infant care and nutrition
  • Early childhood education infrastructure

The program is also expected to contribute to reducing Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) in the district.

Time-Bound and Transparent Project Implementation

The development work will be executed under a structured project mode to ensure transparency, efficiency, and timely completion.

Officials Highlight Community Impact

The MoA signing ceremony was attended by senior officials including the Deputy Commissioner of Chatra, the NTPC North Karanpura Project Head, and other administrative representatives.

During the event, district officials appreciated NTPC’s commitment to community development and social responsibility. They noted that upgrading Anganwadi centres will significantly improve healthcare, nutrition, and education services for women and children.

Boost to Women and Child Welfare in the Region

The initiative is expected to directly benefit women and children in rural areas, strengthening grassroots service delivery systems. Improved infrastructure and services at Anganwadi centres will play a vital role in building a healthier and more educated society.
