New Delhi: State-owned power major NTPC Ltd has appointed veteran industry professional Anupam Mukherjee as its new Executive Director (Projects). The appointment comes as the company continues to expand its power generation capacity and execute several large-scale infrastructure projects across India.
Mukherjee brings with him 36 years of extensive experience in project execution, commissioning, operations, and business development within NTPC.
Key Role in Major Power Project Executions
Anupam Mukherjee has played a crucial role in the successful completion of several landmark power projects during his career. Most recently, he led the execution of:
- Telangana 2×800 MW Super Thermal Power Project
- Patratu 2×800 MW Power Project
He has also contributed significantly to major projects such as Bongaigaon and Barh thermal power stations, along with multiple Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) projects across NTPC plants.

36 Years of Experience Across NTPC Operations
Mukherjee’s long career at NTPC spans over three decades, during which he has worked in key operational and strategic roles across various locations, including:
- Talcher Kaniha, Odisha
- Corporate Centre, New Delhi
- Southern Region Headquarters, Hyderabad
- Telangana Project sites
- Patratu, Jharkhand
His expertise covers project erection, commissioning, operations, and large-scale infrastructure planning.
Leadership in Flagship NTPC Projects
At NTPC’s Corporate Centre, Mukherjee provided strategic leadership to several major projects, including:
- Bongaigaon Thermal Power Project
- Barh Super Thermal Power Project
- Telangana Super Thermal Power Project
- FGD installations at Vallur, Kudgi, Solapur, Mouda, and Telangana
These projects were successfully commissioned with a focus on safety, quality, and timely execution.

In his new role as Executive Director (Projects), Mukherjee is expected to enhance:
- Project execution efficiency
