New Delhi: NTPC Limited’s Bongaigaon unit in Assam has received two prestigious accolades from the Greentech Foundation, recognising its exemplary contributions in the fields of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and environmental sustainability.

  • 11th CSR India Award 2025 in the Healthcare Promotion category
  • 24th Global Environment & Sustainability Award 2025 for Environmental Protection

These honours reflect NTPC Bongaigaon’s long-standing commitment to both community welfare and sustainable energy operations in India’s North-Eastern region.

Healthcare Initiatives in Remote Nagaland Applauded

The CSR India Award was conferred for NTPC Bongaigaon’s impactful interventions in Tuensang district of Nagaland, one of India’s most remote and underserved regions. Initiatives included:

  • Establishing and strengthening rural healthcare infrastructure
  • Supplying essential medical equipment
  • Conducting outreach programs to improve access to primary and preventive healthcare services

This initiative directly addressed the health needs of marginalised populations, significantly improving their quality of life.

Sustainability Practices at Assam Power Plant Lauded

The Global Environment & Sustainability Award recognised the proactive green initiatives undertaken at NTPC Bongaigaon’s 750 MW power station in Assam. The plant has:

  • Adopted responsible resource utilisation techniques
  • Implemented eco-friendly operations
  • Ensured long-term ecological preservation and conservation in the region

These actions demonstrate NTPC’s strong alignment with India’s climate goals and sustainable development agenda.

Recognition Ceremony and Participation

The awards were presented in New Delhi on June 12 and 14, 2025, and received on behalf of NTPC Bongaigaon by:

  • Smriti Das, Executive (CSR, R&R, LA)
  • Sheeja Ambika Sasidharan, AGM (EMG)

A formal handover of the awards was later held at the Bongaigaon site, led by Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, in the presence of:

  • Debabrata Kar, GM (O&M)
  • Amit K Asthana, Head of HR
  • Dr. Deepayan Paul, CMO
  • Site management, HR, and EMG team members

The Greentech award ceremony in New Delhi was graced by several eminent figures, including:

Instituted by the Greentech Foundation, the CSR India and Environment & Sustainability Awards are presented annually to organisations demonstrating leadership in sustainable development and responsible business practices.
