New Delhi: Oil India Limited has announced that its renewable energy arm, OIL Green Energy Limited (OGEL), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Numaligarh Refinery Limited to jointly develop, procure, and supply renewable energy.
The partnership marks a major step in strengthening clean energy adoption and supporting group captive energy requirements.
Focus on Renewable Energy Development and Supply
Under the agreement, OGEL and NRL will collaborate on:
- Development of renewable energy projects
- Procurement of green power
- Long-term supply of renewable energy
- Meeting group captive energy needs
The initiative is designed to integrate renewable energy into refinery and operational consumption systems.

MoU Signed in Presence of Top Leadership
The agreement was signed by senior officials from both organisations:
- Rajeev Kumar Tamuli, GM, OGEL
- Rupam Kumar Sarma, GM (Technical Services), NRL
The signing ceremony was attended by top leadership, including the Chairman & Managing Director of Oil India (also Chairman of NRL), Managing Director of NRL, directors of both companies, and senior executives from OGEL and NRL.
Strengthening India’s Clean Energy Transition
The collaboration is aligned with India’s broader energy transition goals and is expected to:
- Expand OGEL’s renewable energy portfolio
- Diversify energy sourcing for group companies
- Support Oil India’s net-zero target by 2040
- Contribute to India’s net-zero goal by 2070
This move reflects the increasing focus of oil and gas companies on reducing carbon emissions and adopting sustainable energy solutions.
