Amritsar: For IAS officer Pallavi Mishra and her elder brother Aditya Mishra, public service has become a shared professional journey, with one serving in the Indian Administrative Service and the other in the Indian Police Service.

Pallavi Mishra, a 2023-batch IAS officer of the Punjab cadre, is currently serving as Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Amritsar. She secured 73rd rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2022 and was subsequently allocated the IAS.

Her elder brother, Aditya Mishra, is a 2018-batch IPS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre and has served as Superintendent of Police in Balaghat.

Pallavi Mishra’s UPSC Journey

Pallavi Mishra secured All India Rank 73 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2022. The UPSC’s final result lists her at rank 73, with IAS as her allocated service.

She studied law at the National Law University, Delhi and also pursued a master’s degree in music, according to the source profile.

Her journey into the civil services was influenced by her elder brother Aditya Mishra, whose career in the police service provided her with guidance and motivation during her preparation, according to the account.

From AGMUT to Punjab Cadre

Pallavi Mishra entered the IAS in the 2023 batch and was initially part of the AGMUT cadre. In April 2026, the Centre approved her inter-cadre transfer from AGMUT to Punjab on marriage grounds.

She was subsequently posted as Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Amritsar, in June 2026.

Aditya Mishra: 2018-Batch IPS Officer

Aditya Mishra is a 2018-batch IPS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre. He has served in Balaghat, including as Superintendent of Police, where his work has included policing in a district affected by Left-Wing Extremism.

During his training, Mishra received recognition including the Vice President of India’s Trophy for Exemplary Conduct and the Ministry of Home Affairs Trophy for the Best Essay on Communal Harmony and National Integration.

His professional journey has also included involvement in anti-Naxal operations in Balaghat.

A Brother-Sister Pair in Civil and Police Services

Pallavi and Aditya have pursued different branches of India’s All India Services. Pallavi serves in the administrative service, while Aditya serves in the police service.

According to the account of their journey, Aditya’s experience in civil services helped guide Pallavi during her own preparation, while her UPSC success led her into the IAS.

Raksha Bandhan, With Both on Duty

The siblings’ professional commitments coincide with Raksha Bandhan this year. Pallavi is scheduled to be engaged with the state-level Rakkar Punnian Mela programme in Punjab on August 28 and, according to the source, will not be able to personally tie a rakhi to her brother.

She plans to send the rakhi through the postal service instead.

The story of the two officers brings together two different public-service roles—administration and policing—within the same family, with both pursuing careers in India’s civil services.
