Mumbai: The Board of Directors of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has approved raising funds of up to ₹10,000 crore through an Unsecured Rupee Term Loan/Line of Credit from State Bank of India (SBI).
The decision was taken at the meeting of the POWERGRID Board held on September 26, 2026, as part of the company’s financing arrangements.
POWERGRID Approves ₹10,000 Crore Funding Facility
Under the approved arrangement, POWERGRID will raise funds through an unsecured rupee-denominated term loan or line of credit from SBI.

Board Approval Disclosed Under SEBI Regulations
POWERGRID disclosed the board’s decision to the stock exchanges under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
The regulatory disclosure was authenticated by Anjana Luthra, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of POWERGRID.
The disclosure formally communicates the Board’s approval of the proposed borrowing arrangement with SBI.
SBI to Provide Unsecured Rupee Funding Facility
The approved arrangement with SBI involves an unsecured rupee term loan or line of credit with a maximum limit of ₹10,000 crore.
Unlike a secured borrowing facility, the proposed loan is described as unsecured, meaning the funding does not involve the creation of security over specific company assets as collateral under the facility.
POWERGRID Strengthens Financing Options
The approval adds another funding channel for POWERGRID as the company continues to undertake investments in India’s power transmission infrastructure.
The company operates the country’s inter-state power transmission network and undertakes projects involving transmission systems, grid expansion and related infrastructure.
