GRSE Appoints Cmde Vinith Aerat as Executive Director (Technical) to Strengthen Shipbuilding and Defence Operations

Mumbai: Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) has appointed Cmde Vinith Aerat, IN (Retd.), as Executive Director (Technical) with effect from May 26, 2026.The appointment was officially announced through a regulatory filing submitted to the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and BSE Limited under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015.

Experienced Naval Engineering Professional to Lead Technical Operations

Cmde Vinith Aerat brings decades of expertise in naval engineering, shipbuilding, and technical management to his new leadership role at GRSE.

He joined GRSE on December 1, 2021, as General Manager (Technical) and played a significant role in leading the design and technical activities of several major shipbuilding projects over the last three and a half years.

In 2025, he was elevated to the position of Chief General Manager and currently supervises several strategic divisions, including:

  • Business & Technology Development
  • Corporate Communication
  • New Product Development

Before joining GRSE, he served in the Indian Navy for more than 27 years, gaining extensive experience in naval construction, marine engineering, and defence infrastructure projects.

Strong Academic Background in Naval Architecture and Engineering

Cmde Vinith Aerat holds an impressive academic profile in naval architecture and engineering.

His educational qualifications include:

  • Bachelor of Technology in Naval Architecture and Ship Building from Cochin University of Science and Technology
  • Diploma in Naval Construction from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi
  • Master of Technology in Corrosion Science & Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay

Industry experts believe his technical expertise and strategic leadership experience will further enhance GRSE’s capabilities in advanced shipbuilding and defence engineering.
