Leadership Updates: Naveen Kumar Named Additional CMD of Braithwaite & Company Ltd by Railways

New Delhi: The Ministry of Railways has assigned Mr. Naveen Kumar the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Braithwaite & Company Limited for a period of one year or until further orders, ensuring leadership continuity in the public sector enterprise.

Official Approval for Interim Leadership Arrangement

According to an official communication, the competent authority has granted ex-post facto approval for the arrangement. The order came into effect from 19 January 2026, and will remain valid for one year or until a regular CMD assumes charge, whichever is earlier.

This step has been taken to maintain smooth administrative functioning and stability within the organisation during the transition period.

Naveen Kumar to Hold Dual Responsibility

Mr. Naveen Kumar, an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE), currently serving as Principal Chief Electrical Engineer (PCEE) of South Eastern Railway, will hold the additional responsibility alongside his existing duties.

He is from the 1992 batch of IRSEE officers and has over three decades of experience in Indian Railways.

Experienced Railway Officer with Extensive Service Record

Mr. Naveen Kumar has served in several key positions across the Railway Board and zonal railways, including roles such as Joint Secretary and Executive Director (Establishment – Gazetted Cadre).

His strong background in electrical engineering and administrative leadership is expected to support the efficient functioning of Braithwaite & Company Limited during the interim period.

Focus on Continuity and Institutional Stability

The Ministry’s decision is aimed at ensuring operational continuity and leadership stability in a critical public sector undertaking that supports railway infrastructure development.

Officials said the arrangement reflects the government’s approach to maintaining uninterrupted functioning of key organisations while permanent leadership appointments are finalized.
