CONCOR Awards ₹175 Crore Contract to Braithwaite for 9 BLSS Rakes to Boost Rail Logistics

Navratna PSU strengthens container transport capacity with turnkey project, deliveries scheduled by February 2027.

New Delhi: Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR) has awarded a significant contract worth ₹175.36 crore to Braithwaite & Co Ltd for the manufacture and supply of nine BLSS (Spine Car) rakes. The development was disclosed through a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges.

The contract is part of CONCOR’s ongoing strategy to expand its fleet and strengthen logistics infrastructure across India.

Turnkey Project with Delivery Deadline by February 2027

Under the agreement, Braithwaite & Co Ltd will execute the project on a turnkey basis. The supply of all nine rakes is scheduled to be completed by February 28, 2027, with a minimum production and delivery rate of two rakes per month.

The contract value excludes GST and represents a key investment in enhancing freight mobility.

Focus on Strengthening Containerized Cargo Movement

The BLSS (Spine Car) rakes are designed to improve the efficiency of container transportation across rail networks. The addition of these rakes will enable CONCOR to handle higher cargo volumes and support the growing demand for containerized freight movement in the country.

This move aligns with the government’s push to modernize logistics and promote rail-based freight systems.

No Related Party Involvement in the Deal

CONCOR clarified that the contract has been awarded to a domestic entity and does not involve any related party transactions. The company also confirmed that there is no interest from promoters or group companies in the awarded contract, ensuring transparency and compliance.

Part of CONCOR’s Expansion and Modernization Strategy

The contract reflects CONCOR’s continued efforts to enhance operational efficiency and expand its logistics capabilities. As a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise, the company plays a crucial role in India’s multimodal transport ecosystem.

The partnership with Braithwaite & Co Ltd is expected to further strengthen its service delivery and infrastructure.
