Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has launched Hunar Punjab and Fast-Track Punjab, two digital portals aimed at improving employment opportunities for local youth and making it easier for businesses to invest in the state.
The platforms will connect companies with skilled candidates, support internships and industrial training, and help investors track financial incentives transparently. The government says the single-window system will also enable businesses to obtain necessary approvals within 45 days.
The launch comes as Punjab seeks to build on its recent investment momentum and create more employment opportunities within the state. Mann said Punjab has attracted investments worth ₹1.90 lakh crore since 2022, generating 6.31 lakh new jobs.
He reiterated that the government’s priority is to help young people find employment in Punjab and work towards the vision of Rangla Punjab.
Hunar Punjab Aims to Connect Youth With Industry
The Hunar Punjab portal aims to bridge the gap between industries and young people seeking jobs, internships and practical training. It will allow companies to connect directly with skilled candidates and identify talent that matches their workforce requirements.
Around 1,750 institutions have already registered on the platform, according to Mann. The government also intends to give local skilled youth preference for employment opportunities in the industrial sector.
The portal seeks to address several challenges in the employment ecosystem, including limited visibility of available talent, weak coordination between industries and educational institutions, and a lack of effective links between the skills young people possess and the skills employers need.
By bringing these stakeholders onto a unified digital platform, the government aims to make recruitment and training more organised and accessible.

Internships and Industrial Training Through One Platform
Hunar Punjab will provide a structured system for internships and industrial training with participation from companies, educational institutions, students, alumni and government departments.
This could help young people gain practical exposure before entering full-time employment. It could also allow employers to identify potential recruits through training programmes rather than relying only on conventional recruitment channels.
The portal is designed to support several activities, including:
- Employment opportunities: Connecting companies directly with skilled candidates.
- Internships and training: Helping students gain workplace experience and industry-relevant skills.
- Industry-institute coordination: Improving communication between employers and educational institutions.
- Skill matching: Helping employers identify candidates whose abilities meet their requirements.
The platform’s impact will depend on how actively companies use it, how frequently institutions update candidate information and whether the opportunities listed translate into actual placements.
For Punjab’s youth, the central benefit could be better access to jobs closer to home, reducing the need to move to other states in search of suitable employment.
Fast-Track Punjab to Improve Investor Services
The second platform, Fast-Track Punjab, focuses on investors and businesses. It will provide transparent information about financial incentives and allow investors to track the status of incentives through an online system.
Businesses often need to interact with multiple departments when applying for approvals or seeking information about government support. A centralised digital platform could reduce the need for repeated visits to government offices and make it easier to follow the progress of applications.
According to the announcement, the broader system aims to provide all necessary approvals through a single window within 45 days. The government expects the approach to reduce delays and improve transparency in business-related processes.
For investors, clearer information and more predictable timelines can make it easier to plan projects, estimate costs and make decisions about expansion. However, the portal’s effectiveness will depend on how departments coordinate and adhere to the proposed timelines.
Punjab Reports ₹1.90 Lakh Crore in Investments Since 2022
Mann said Punjab has attracted ₹1.90 lakh crore in investment since 2022, with 6.31 lakh new jobs generated during the period.
The two portals are intended to strengthen the connection between investment and employment. While Fast-Track Punjab aims to make investor services more transparent, Hunar Punjab seeks to help industries find workers with relevant skills.
Together, the platforms could support a more connected system in which businesses can navigate government processes more easily and access a wider pool of local talent.
The figures cited by the Chief Minister provide the government’s stated context for the launch. The new portals’ contribution to future investment and job creation will become clearer as businesses and job seekers begin using them.
Digital Governance and Greater Transparency
Mann also highlighted the government’s use of e-Office and online systems across departments to reduce corruption, limit unnecessary delays and improve accountability.
The new portals build on this broader push towards digital governance. By making employment connections and investor incentive information available online, the government aims to reduce dependence on multiple offices and make services easier to track.
For such systems to deliver lasting results, users will need reliable information, timely updates and clear channels for resolving problems. Effective coordination among departments, institutions and private companies will also be essential.
Can the Portals Help Build ‘Rangla Punjab’?
The launch of Hunar Punjab and Fast-Track Punjab reflects the government’s effort to address two linked priorities: employment for young people and a more supportive environment for industry.
Hunar Punjab aims to make skills and job opportunities more visible, while Fast-Track Punjab seeks to make investor services and financial incentives easier to navigate. If the platforms work as intended, they could help businesses recruit locally, support practical training and reduce friction in investment-related processes.
The key test will be whether the portals translate digital access into real outcomes, including placements, internships, timely approvals and stronger investor participation. Their performance could play an important role in Punjab’s efforts to expand employment opportunities and strengthen its industrial economy.
