Ropar, Punjab: Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and former Education Minister Manish Sisodia inaugurated the Ropar IAS Academy at the Government Polytechnic College in Ropar on Thursday. The academy has been established to provide free coaching for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Punjab Civil Services (PCS), and other competitive examinations to students from the district.

The initiative aims to make quality civil services coaching accessible to talented students, particularly those from economically weaker backgrounds, reducing the need to relocate to metropolitan cities for expensive coaching.

Free UPSC and PCS Coaching for Ropar Students

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Manish Sisodia said that quality education is every student’s right and plays a vital role in transforming both individuals and society.

He noted that clearing prestigious examinations such as UPSC, IAS, IPS and PCS requires:

  • Determination and discipline
  • Expert academic guidance
  • Quality study material
  • Regular test series
  • A competitive learning environment

According to Sisodia, the Ropar IAS Academy has been designed to provide all these facilities under one roof.

Academy to Support Students Who Cannot Afford Costly Coaching

Sisodia appreciated AAP MLA Dinesh Chadha for taking the initiative to establish the academy in Ropar.

He said many deserving students fail to receive quality coaching because of:

  • High coaching fees
  • Financial constraints
  • The need to move to major cities for preparation

The new academy, he added, will bridge this gap by offering experienced faculty, updated study material, regular assessments and a competitive academic environment free of cost.

Focus Beyond Competitive Examinations

Sisodia said the objective of the academy goes beyond helping students clear examinations.

He encouraged aspirants to develop:

  • Analytical thinking
  • Leadership skills
  • Social responsibility
  • A spirit of public service
  • Effective time management

He urged students to fully utilise the academy’s resources and prepare with dedication and consistency.

Punjab Government Aims to Expand Equal Educational Opportunities

Addressing the gathering, Ropar MLA Dinesh Chadha described the academy as a historic initiative for the district’s youth.

He said talented students from economically weaker families will now receive quality coaching free of cost, enabling them to pursue careers in the civil services without financial barriers.

Chadha added that the Punjab Government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to ensuring quality education reaches every section of society while creating equal opportunities for competitive examination aspirants.

He expressed confidence that the academy would become an important institution for producing future civil servants from the region.

Classroom and Online Coaching Facilities Available

Educationalist and Managing Director of Abhishek Educational Services, Abhishek Sharma, said the academy will provide comprehensive coaching through both offline classroom sessions and online learning platforms.

The online mode will particularly benefit:

  • Students from remote areas
  • Working professionals
  • Candidates unable to attend regular classroom sessions

This hybrid learning model is expected to make quality coaching accessible to a larger number of aspirants across the district.

Manish Sisodia Honoured for Contribution to Education

During the inaugural event, Inderjit Singh Bala presented a painting to Manish Sisodia in recognition of his contributions to the field of education.

The ceremony concluded with officials and educationists expressing hope that the academy would help more students from Punjab succeed in national and state-level civil services examinations.
