Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has emphasized that conserving energy resources while keeping national interest above all is a collective responsibility of every citizen. He stated that India’s progress toward self-reliance depends on small but meaningful lifestyle changes at the individual level.
PM Modi’s Call for Self-Reliance and Sustainable Living
Highlighting the leadership vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, CM Dhami said that the appeal to citizens goes beyond economic savings. It is a strategic step toward building a stronger, self-reliant India. The focus is on reducing dependency on external resources while strengthening domestic capabilities.

The Chief Minister also referred to the appeal made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting that it is not only about economic savings but a crucial step toward building a self-reliant and empowered India.
He said that the vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat” (Self-Reliant India) and “Vocal for Local” can only succeed when every citizen actively participates in national development.
Key Lifestyle Changes Suggested for Citizens
CM Dhami urged citizens to adopt simple but impactful lifestyle changes, including:
- Avoiding unnecessary foreign travel
- Prioritizing local and indigenous products
- Using public transport to reduce petrol and diesel consumption
- Saving energy in daily life
- Avoiding gold jewellery purchases for a year
- Using natural fertilizers instead of chemical-based ones in farming
- Practicing moderation in edible oil consumption
He emphasized that these small resolutions can collectively strengthen India’s economy and reduce resource dependency.
Devbhoomi’s Tradition of National Commitment
The Chief Minister stated that the people of Uttarakhand, often referred to as Devbhoomi (Land of the Gods), have always been at the forefront of national service and commitment.
He expressed confidence that citizens will turn the Prime Minister’s appeal into a mass public movement, further strengthening the spirit of self-reliance.
