Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved financial sanctions worth approximately ₹135 crore for a wide range of development projects and departmental schemes across the state. The approvals cover infrastructure, education, heritage conservation, and administrative strengthening.
The move is aimed at accelerating public welfare projects and ensuring timely execution of ongoing works in various districts of Uttarakhand.
Major Boost to Education Under RTE Scheme
In a significant decision for the education sector, the state government has approved ₹84.89 crore as the second installment for the financial year 2025–26 under the Right to Education (RTE) Act.
This funding will be used for reimbursement of tuition fees of students studying in private schools under the RTE framework, ensuring continued access to education for children from economically weaker sections.
The Chief Minister directed that the funds must be used in a transparent, time-bound, and rule-compliant manner to maximize public benefit.
Infrastructure Development Across Districts
Several infrastructure projects have received financial approval, including:
- ₹79.87 lakh for completion of the remaining work of the under-construction Mountain Development Building in Sitarganj, Udham Singh Nagar
- ₹20.41 lakh for the construction of a shed at the Martyrs’ Memorial in Khatima
These projects are expected to strengthen administrative infrastructure and honor historical contributions.
Temple Renovation and Heritage Preservation
The government has also sanctioned funds for the renovation and beautification of religious and cultural sites:
- ₹49.86 lakh for construction and beautification of Nag Devta Temple in Virad village, Dhanaulti (Tehri Garhwal)
- ₹98.59 lakh for improvement of Surya Devi Temple in Palaithi Bangar, Devprayag
- ₹35 lakh for restoration and beautification of historic buildings in Dantu village, Dharchula (Pithoragarh)
These initiatives aim to preserve Uttarakhand’s cultural and spiritual heritage while promoting local tourism.
Strengthening Administrative Institutions and Security
The Chief Minister also approved allocations for key administrative and security institutions, including:
- ₹2.75 crore for Dr. R.S. Tolia Uttarakhand Academy of Administration
- ₹7.57 crore for Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission
- ₹35.74 crore for various police department establishments (50% of budget provision)
- ₹1 crore for the Home Guards Department
These allocations are expected to enhance governance efficiency and strengthen the state’s administrative framework.
Road Naming in Honor of Martyr
In a symbolic decision, the Chief Minister approved naming the Moln–Khandah–Bhintai motor road in Pauri Garhwal after martyr Kamala Singh Negi, recognizing his sacrifice for the nation. With these approvals totaling around ₹135 crore, the Uttarakhand government is focusing on a balanced approach to development—combining infrastructure expansion, education support, cultural preservation, and administrative strengthening across the state.
