Jaipur: Rajasthan is fast establishing itself as one of India’s most attractive investment destinations, driven by sector-specific policies, rapid industrial infrastructure development and a strong focus on ease of doing business, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, an IAS officer of 1989 batch, said while interacting with representatives of the Public Affairs Forum of India (PAFI) in Jaipur.

Addressing the gathering, Srinivas highlighted the state’s growing industrial ecosystem and said Rajasthan is witnessing unprecedented momentum in investment, with projects worth over ₹8 lakh crore already having undergone groundbreaking and more investments in the pipeline following the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024.

Senior officials from the Department of Industries and Commerce also briefed the PAFI delegation on Rajasthan’s industrial growth, infrastructure, investment opportunities and industry-friendly policy framework.

Investment Opportunities Across Emerging Sectors

Srinivas said Rajasthan offers immense opportunities for domestic and global investors across a wide range of high-growth sectors.

These include:

  • Renewable energy
  • Semiconductors
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Data centres
  • Defence manufacturing
  • Logistics
  • Tourism
  • Textiles
  • Other emerging industries

He attributed the increasing investor confidence to the Rajasthan government’s proactive and business-friendly policy environment.

Strategic Location Gives Rajasthan a Competitive Edge

Highlighting the state’s geographical advantages, Srinivas said Rajasthan enjoys excellent connectivity through an extensive national highway network and is strategically linked to two of India’s biggest logistics corridors—the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) and the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC).

These connectivity advantages, he said, significantly enhance Rajasthan’s attractiveness as a manufacturing and logistics hub by reducing transportation costs and improving supply chain efficiency.

₹8 Lakh Crore Projects Under Implementation

According to the Chief Secretary, projects worth more than ₹8 lakh crore have already entered the implementation phase through groundbreaking ceremonies.

Preparations are also progressing rapidly for projects linked to the Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed during the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, held in December 2024.

The state government expects these investments to generate large-scale industrial activity, employment and economic growth in the coming years.

40 New Industrial Areas Developed in Just Two-and-a-Half Years

Emphasising Rajasthan’s rapid industrial expansion, Srinivas said the state has developed 40 new industrial areas over the last two and a half years.

He noted that, on average, one new industrial park has been established every three weeks, reflecting the government’s aggressive push towards industrialisation.

To facilitate quicker investments, RIICO is currently allotting nearly six industrial plots every day, ensuring that investors receive land without unnecessary delays.

RIICO’s Growing Role in Industrial Development

Srinivas said the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) has evolved significantly over the past decade and today serves as the backbone of the state’s industrial infrastructure.

One of its flagship initiatives is the 1,100-acre Japanese Zone, developed exclusively for Japanese companies. The zone already hosts leading firms, including Honda Motors, strengthening Rajasthan’s position as an international manufacturing destination.

Policy Reforms Driving Ease of Doing Business

The Chief Secretary said Rajasthan has built a robust industrial ecosystem through the implementation of more than 30 sector-specific policies, designed to meet the requirements of diverse industries.

He also highlighted the Private Industrial Park Promotion Policy-2026, under which modern industrial parks are being developed with active private sector participation through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

To further improve the ease of doing business, the government has introduced several reforms, including:

  • Making 190 government services available online through a single-window system.
  • Fixing a 30-day timeline for land-use change approvals.
  • Fast-tracking approvals for MSMEs.
  • Allowing 24×7 industrial and commercial operations.

According to Srinivas, these reforms have significantly reduced procedural delays and enhanced investor confidence.

₹3,200 Crore Approved for Industrial Area Development

Speaking at the meeting, Shikhar Agarwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries, MSME and State Enterprises, and Chairman of RIICO, said approvals worth nearly ₹3,200 crore have already been granted for developing industrial areas across the state.

He added that the government continues to introduce policy reforms to align industrial policies with evolving business requirements and investor expectations.

Invitation to Global Investors

Inviting industry leaders and PAFI members to deepen their engagement with Rajasthan, Srinivas urged them to participate in the Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas, scheduled to be held in December.

He said the event would provide a valuable platform to connect global investors with Rajasthan’s expanding industrial ecosystem and create new opportunities for business partnerships and investment.

With sustained policy support, world-class infrastructure, rapid industrial park development and a diversified investment strategy, Rajasthan is positioning itself as a leading destination for manufacturing, technology and infrastructure investments in India.
