New Delhi: In a key diplomatic reshuffle, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has announced the appointments of two senior Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officers as High Commissioners to Papua New Guinea and Malawi.
Rajeev Kumar Named High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea
Senior diplomat Rajeev Kumar (IFS: 2001) has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea. He is currently serving as Deputy Director General (DDG) at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
In an official statement, the MEA said, “Shri Rajeev Kumar (IFS: 2001), presently DDG, ICCR, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea.”
He is expected to take up his new assignment shortly.
Amararam Gujar Appointed High Commissioner to Malawi
The MEA also announced that Amararam Gujar (IFS: 2008) has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Malawi. Gujar is currently serving as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Rome.
“Shri Amararam Gujar (IFS: 2008), presently Deputy Chief of Mission, Rome, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Malawi,” the MEA said in a statement.
He too is expected to assume the post in the coming weeks.
These appointments reflect India’s continued efforts to strengthen its diplomatic presence and foster deeper bilateral relations with nations across the Asia-Pacific and African regions.
