New Delhi: The Defence Accounts Department (DAD) will mark its 279th Annual Day on October 1, 2026, in New Delhi, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh scheduled to launch a set of digital and financial-management initiatives for the Ministry of Defence.
The celebrations will be held at the Dr D.S. Kothari Auditorium, DRDO Bhawan.
Army Finance System to Integrate With SAKSHAM
Among the initiatives to be launched is the integration of the Indian Army Financial Information System (IAFIS) with DAD’s SAKSHAM platform.

The Defence Minister is also scheduled to launch a revamped National Compilation System (NCS) for the Ministry of Defence and the Payment Routing and Integrated System Management (PRISM) Platform, which will introduce Treasury-Single Account Payments in the Ministry of Defence.
New Defence Expenditure Publications to Be Released
Rajnath Singh will also release several publications, including the Comprehensive Statistical Handbook on Defence Expenditure (COSHE) 2026, the department’s Hindi magazine Raksha Lekha Bharati, and the Market Intelligence Report 2025-2026.
A short film on SPARSH (System for Pension Administration (Raksha)), the Defence Ministry’s defence-pension administration system, will also be released.
The department will additionally confer the Raksha Mantri Awards for Excellence 2026 on its officers and staff for their performance and contribution to initiatives of the Ministry of Defence and DAD.
DAD’s Role in Defence Finance and Pensions
The Defence Accounts Department traces its origins to the appointment of the Military Pay Master in 1747. Over the years, it has evolved to provide financial and accounting services to the Defence Forces and the Ministry of Defence.
Its responsibilities include internal audit, accounting, financial advice and defence pensions management.
