After finding broken infrastructure and poor citizen facilities, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta has given officials just one week to transform the Revenue Department offices in Rohini.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday expressed strong displeasure over the poor condition of government offices during a surprise inspection of Revenue Department facilities in Rohini, directing officials to complete improvement works within a week and ensure better services for citizens.

The Chief Minister visited the E-Sub-Registrar Offices VI-A (Model Town/Pitampura) and VI-C (Rohini), operating from Ambedkar Bhawan in Sector-16, Rohini. During the inspection, she reviewed citizen facilities, cleanliness, record management, and service delivery systems.

Gupta found several shortcomings, including poor lighting, non-functional air-conditioners, broken flooring, unclean toilets, inadequate seating arrangements, and overall neglect of maintenance. Interacting directly with visitors, she heard complaints about long waiting hours, the absence of a token system, poor ventilation, and lack of basic amenities.

ONE-WEEK DEADLINE FOR IMPROVEMENTS

Calling the situation “unacceptable,” the Chief Minister said government offices are meant to serve citizens with dignity and transparency, not create inconvenience. She instructed officials to submit a detailed report on improvement measures within one week and announced that she would personally conduct a follow-up inspection.

Gupta also sought complete records of previous repair proposals and correspondence related to the building’s upkeep. She directed officials to designate responsible officers for regular monitoring of cleanliness, maintenance, and citizen facilities.

The Chief Minister ordered immediate repairs, including replacement of faulty lights, restoration of air-conditioning systems, repair of damaged floors and tiles, improved sanitation, and adequate seating for visitors. She also stressed the importance of digitising and preserving revenue records to ensure document safety.

Issuing a stern warning against delays and corruption, Gupta said strict action would be taken against any official found responsible for harassment, bribery, or unnecessary delays in public services.
