SJVN Continues to Expand Hydro and Renewable Energy Portfolio

The promotions come at a time when SJVN is expanding its presence across the hydro and renewable energy sectors. The company is working to consolidate its position among India’s leading power-sector public sector enterprises while strengthening its portfolio of clean energy projects.

The company has also been focusing on expanding its renewable energy capacity alongside its established presence in hydropower.

SJVN Gains Greater Autonomy After Navratna Status

SJVN was conferred Navratna status by the Department of Public Enterprises in August 2024, becoming the 25th Navratna CPSE in the country.

The Navratna status provides the company with greater autonomy and enhanced flexibility in decision-making, allowing it to pursue strategic investments and business expansion more effectively.

The recognition marked an important milestone in SJVN’s growth journey and reflects the company’s increasing role in India’s power and renewable energy sector.

Promotions Follow Recent Leadership Changes at SJVN

The senior-level promotions also come amid recent changes in the company’s top leadership.

The Ministry of Power has extended Bhupender Gupta’s additional charge as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of SJVN for three months from August 1, 2026, or until a full-time incumbent is appointed, whichever is earlier.

The leadership changes and the promotion of six senior executives are expected to support continuity and strengthen the company’s management structure as SJVN continues to pursue its growth and renewable energy expansion plans.
